Doing whatever makes me happy.
It’s a bonus Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew! This is a BlackBerry Ginger Gimlet, made with Hendricks Amazonia gin, Domaine De Canton Ginger Liqueur, lime juice, and blackberry syrup and it is divine! Ginger and blackberry go so well together and the tropical notes of this gin shine through. 🍽️🍴🍸
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the Stark! Cherry-infused bourbon, Yellow Chartreuse, lemon juice, honey syrup, and an angostura float. It’s a lovely cocktail - up front fruity, and the Chartreuse lingers. Recipe below! 🍸🍽️🍴🐝📚❤️
It’s a doubleheader Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew! This is the Disgruntled Bee - a Bees Knee riff where Amaro Nonino splits the bill with the gin. Very yummy! Love the herbal notes in this one. Recipe below! 🍸🍽️🍴🐝
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the Rigirita - a margarita riff made with Mt Rigi liqueur rather than orange liqueur. It’s a bit dry - no agave or other sweetener, but I like it. Next time I think I will add some sweetener! Recipe below! 🍸🍴🍽️
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the result of my recent experiments - the Bloody Getaway! Made with my cherry-infused Larceny bourbon, Dry Curaçao, lemon juice, and Cherry Bourbon simple syrup made from the leftover cherries. Holy cow, people. So freaking good. Recipe below! 🍽️🍴🍸🍒🧶
I’m quite pleased with this! I heard you could cook frozen shrimp in the Airfryer, and I wanted a quick protein to have with pasta. My seasonings of choice were more Italian than Mexican for this, but I definitely would do it again. Recipe below! 🍽️🍴
I have 2 Friday Science experiments with a bonus from yesterday! Big jar - Larceny Bourbon being infused with frozen black cherries. Small jar - black cherries pickled with cinnamon and star anise. The bonus jars are from the pickle class at work yesterday! Mine are very garlicky! 🍴🍽️🍸🍒🥒
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the Orchard Keeper. We used the Cherry Honey syrup I made earlier today. Sweet and boozy, with cherries coming through. Personally, I think it could do with some citrus juice, but I like it. Recipe below! 🍽️🍴🍸🐝
I had some cherries that needed to be used, so cherry honey syrup it is! 🍽️🍴🍸🐝
And I’m back home - tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails *with* Andrew is a Gypsy Rosolio, a great drink for hot weather with gin, Italicus, St. Germain, and lime juice. Who said it could get up to 100°F? I didn’t give permission for that. Recipe below! 🍽️🍴🍸
Maybe the last Adventures of Cocktails of the Patten Family Reunion - and I had to diverge from recipe because I was short on brandy and had no lemon juice (subbed in 1/4oz gin and used lime juice instead) - so maybe not a Brandy Daisy but a Brandy Dandelion instead. Still tasty! Recipe below! 🍽️🍴🍸
Last Adventures in Cocktails - Patten Family Reunion version - of the night. This is the East Village Athletic Club - a nice, bright cocktail with tequila, Yellow Chartreuse, Cointreau, and lemon juice. We have done a great job of creating varied cocktails with a small supply. Recipe below. 🍸🍽️🍴
Today’s Adventures in Cocktails - Patten Family Reunion edition - is a Saskatoon Berry Honey Margarita. It’s a great mix of sweet and tangy. It’s a blustery day here in Sedgwick today, so it has turned into a canasta tournament. I am sitting it out, knitting, and enjoying the view instead. 🍸🍽️🍴🐝
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails - Patten Family Reunion version part 2 - is the Written Word. I have to say, this area of Alberta definitely has its pretty spots. Gin, Cointreau, lime juice, and Yellow Chartreuse - Andrew, I’ll make this one for you, too. Recipe below! 🍽️🍸🍴
Tonight’s Adventures with Cocktails - Patten Family Reunion version - is a Brandy Sidecar with Saskatoon berry syrup. No sugar for the rim in our Airbnb, so went with Saskatoon Berry Syrup instead to sweeten it a bit. This is my Dad and sister, Jaime. Andrew - I’ll make this one for you soon! 🍽️🍸🍴🐝
Oh! This is a good one! Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the Marigny - a delicious concoction of Calvados, the Black Pluot infused cognac, lemon juice, a smidge of Green Chartreuse, and simple syrup. Recipe below! 🍽️🍴🍸
The 2026 Family T-shirts! I tried a different technique this time - ice dyeing. While I like the saturation, this is not an easier or less back-breaking technique. I was going for northern lights imagery, but in the end some are more Monet’s Water Lilies. No matter, I like that too.
Oh, this is lovely! Tonight’s second Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is a Sidecar made with the Black Pluot infused cognac. So yummy! It’s amazing how quickly this infuses when the fruit is frozen. Recipe below! 🍸🍽️🍴
If tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew looks like iced tea, you would be correct! This is an Earl Grey Bees Knees with Barr Hill gin infused with Earl Grey, Celtic Honey liqueur, honey syrup, and lemon juice. It is very intensely tea flavored. I quite like it! Recipe below.
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the Bumblebee’s Knees - a Bees’ Knees riff with an added herbal note of Green Chartreuse. Yummy! Recipe below. 🍴🍸🍽️🐝
Friday Science Experiment - Black Pluot-infused Cognac! I love how red it is already. I bought the pluots yesterday and intended to make simple syrup. When I cut them and saw that color, I had to freeze them and make a cognac infusion instead. This is going to make some fantastic Sidecars. 🍴🍽️🍸
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is an original - the Antidote. Those if you who have mercurial teenagers know where this is coming from. In any case, I was pleasantly surprised - the lemongrass-infused vodka and St. Germain go very well together. George disagrees. 🍸🍴🍽️🐈
Another science experiment! This time I am making spiced pear syrup - way in advance so it is ready for autumn. In the jar are 3c 100 proof vodka, 1.5c cane sugar, 3 large Bosc pears, 2 vanilla beans, 2 star anise, 3 cinnamon sticks, and about 8 cloves. Check in on this in a few months! 🍽️🍴🍸🍐
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is a Strawberry Rhubarb Vodka Gimlet! It uses both my strawberry-infused vodka and my rhubarb simple syrup, and has a great sweet-tart dichotomy going on. The color is gorgeous, too! 🍽️🍴🍸🍓
Okay, cocktail-adjacent post. Andrew put this through the dishwasher with the cap on, and now I can’t get the cap off. Anyone have any ideas how to separate them?
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is the Thumbs Up! Andrew loves Green Chartreuse… I tolerate it (I like Yellow Chartreuse much more) - so we look for cocktails that meet both of our cocktail tastes - and this much just be it. Bright, herbally, and citrussy - very good! Recipe below! 🍸🍽️🍴
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is a Strawberry Infused Limoncello Lemon Drop! A few days ago I froze strawberries I needed to use up, and quick infused them in vodka. This is delightful! The lemon/limoncello hits first, and then strawberry lingers on. Recipe below! 🍴🍽️🍸🧶🍓
It’s a doubleheader in Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew! This is a Sidecar riff called the Getaway Car. It has Larceny 125 proof bourbon, Cointreau, and lemon juice. Andrew also added in 1/2 oz of spiced simple syrup. There are some great caramel notes coming through on this bourbon! Recipe👇 🍴🍽️🍸
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is another thing I completely made up - the Cherry Kamikaze Spritz! It’s a Kamikaze cocktail topped with Prosecco. Not terribly sweet - if I made it again, I might add some syrup, but it is refreshing! I can’t wait to eat the cherries at the bottom. 🍸🍽️🍴
Tonight’s Adventures in Cocktails with Andrew is yet another experiment! I took a gimlet recipe, added in the ginger liqueur and used the hibiscus tea syrup I made. It is so good! I used Old Tom gin, which Andrew says is sweeter than others. He wants to try this with Plymouth gin next time. 🍸🍽️🍴
