I have this lovely old trunk, but it’s a bit tatty. I want to give it a makeover. I’m hoping with a coat of paint and re-covering the inside, it’ll be suitable for storage of extra bedding. It’s a bit stale smelling inside though.
Also working on the doors to the rooms. They look so cheap and nasty and had horrible brass door handles. I had hoped to sand them down and give them a coat of wood stain, but the edges are plastic and the veneer is very thin and chipped in places, so I think I’m just going to paint them.
Next step is tarting up the very old built-in Ikea wardrobe that we can’t afford to completely replace, so we’re paining the doors and changing the handles. It’s coming along nicely.
This was how our day started. I’m sure many of you will be sad to see us painting over the wood. I don’t care. I hated it. It smelled old and musty and the walls, ceiling, floors and doors were all different colours and finishes of wood. Now it’s lovely and bright.
This week our project is to brighten up our dark upstairs hallway with all the different wood finishes.
Celebrating the start of my holiday with a bottle of bubbly, Jodi and Kasper style (cloudy lemonade).
I was thinking I’d love to go to the harbour for an ice cream, but I didn’t say anything to Kasper because I thought he’d say no and I didn’t want to be disappointed. Guess what he suggested!
Morning all! Last sick day today. Going to call work later and declare myself well enough to work again. The antibiotics have done the trick and I’m feeling like I have more energy again now. Enough to come to the harbour for my morning coffee and soak up some vitamin D.
We are back from the big town. We had lunch and a coffee and I had my eyes checked and have got a stronger prescription for my terrible close vision (damn you old eyes!). We also browsed a bit and now I’m back on the sofa because I’m so tired now.
10 years ago, Kasper sent me his very first message. We’ve never stopped sending each other messages since. These days they tend to be updating each other on our bowel movements or checking in when we arrive safely, but there is always lots of “love you” messages too.
Just your typical morning in June 🥶 Yes, this perimenopausal woman is shivering under a blanket with a warm pad around her neck and has lit a fire.
And, to be fair, literally anything is better than the poorly fitted patchwork of different colours of cheap, nasty crap we have now.
There’s a storm outside. Thunder and heavy rain. I’m lying indoors with a warm pad on my tummy and with the fire lit. A typical day in June!
Made a lovely lunch. Making the most of being home and having time to make delicious lunches and not just scoff a sandwich while helping the resident with their lunches.
I’m officially allowed to go for walks from today. I’ve just come back from a wander on the beach. It was marvellous.
Back on my bench with a cup of coffee, looking out to sea, listening to the birds and the water gentle lapping, smelling all the glorious summer fragrances and feeling the early morning sun on my face.
This is 10 years ago Jodi , trying oysters for the first time as part of my 40 things to do before I turned 40.
Anyway, I’ve been out for my dose of early morning sunshine. Bit chilly still this morning, so it was a quick one. No sign of fugitives.
