I headed out of my flat this morning to receive a loaf of sourdough bread from a kind friend. I was intercepted by a reporter from WATE TV Knoxville news who promptly interviewed me in a parking lot that was underwater last night. Finally, I appeared on their 6:00 news. In an old Lucero t-shirt.
Don’t know why this clip of ‘Make Art Not Friends’ from March 2020 (just before the world ended) popped up on my phone today but I’ll take it as a sign that I should share some Sturgill Simpson this morning.

"... uncompromising in his role." Not cowardly. Not criminally negligent. Not unprecedentedly sycophantic to a president who proudly admits to putting loyalty above the law. UNCOMPROMISING IN HIS ROLE. It's getting more and more difficult to justify a NYT subscription for the games.
Here are the 11 former Knox County Sheriff’s Office employees indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit theft, theft of property over $250,000 and theft of services over $60,000. Notice any similarities?
Even the conservative Knox News Sentinel acknowledges the fury after Tennessee's gleeful restoration of Jim Crow.
The first time I heard a kookaburra in Australia in 2004 I thought, “I didn’t know monkeys lived in the trees of Western Sydney.” This video - taken in a parking lot during a visit in 2024 - captures the call of my favourite Aussie bird.

Came across this guy while feeding my neighborhood’s TNR cats. Alive, but not looking good.
