That’s true. Nothing is more lethal than motor vehicles, especially as they grow to monstrous proportions.

In 2023 (again, the most recent stats), 1,964 people in Canada died in motor vehicle crashes, and 9,261 were so badly injured they required hospitalization. Another 118,838 suffered minor injuries.

Those deaths included 1,025 drivers, 301 passengers, 229 motorcyclists, 298 pedestrians, 47 cyclists, and 64 others (including, presumably, scooter users.)

This headline that the resignation "triggers" a byelection intrigued me. TIL that in the UK, a by-election is expected to happen fairly quickly through parliamentary convention. It's different in Canada, where the PM can take up to six months before calling a byelection.

wife and five children and care for the
horses he raised on family property.
Haidar moved his wife and kids to a
safer place in Lebanon and stayed behind
to tend to his horses amid Israeli attacks
in the region, his brother told a news con-
ference on Monday.
He said Haidar was on the phone with
his wife last Thursday when he heard
cries for help coming from outside. A
man who helped take care of the horses
was shot by a drone and when Haidar
went out to help, he was shot in the head
and also killed, Haidar’s brother said.

Funny you mention that, because here is an example of an AI generated picture my local paper used on its contractors advertising page today. Is it a big deal? Likely not. But if you look at the details, no professional paints like this. Why do we put up with AI garbage like this?
