Text excerpt from an essay written by Harrison Cook, posted on Free Write blog website, reading:

In Brave New World, there is ample access to the recreational drug Soma, which eliminates all unhappiness. This medication tricks its citizens into false happiness while simultaneously supporting the system that needs happy-drugged people to participate in it. In this frightful world, people are grown in artificial wombs and then sent on predetermined educational paths rife with operant conditions and pleasure gratification. Here, free will is of no concern because the citizens don't know they're missing it.
"The perfect dictatorship would have the appearance of a democracy,"
Huxley says, "but would basically be a prison without walls in which the prisoners would not even dream of escaping. It would essentially be a system of slavery where through consumption and entertainment, the slaves would love their servitudes."
In Huxley's story, if someone refuses Soma, they are sequestered on an island with like-minded people to await further punishment. While the main character finds solace in being alone - together - with likeminded people, he quickly realizes the monoculture of thought on the island. There is no one to dissent where it really counts.
Everyone thinks the same.

This observation is not arbitrary, it’s very 2026. League AVG this year is only .242, lowest since 1968 (even tho pitchers don’t bat now). A typical 2026 lineup only has 1 or 2 players hitting over .250. It used to be rare for any team to have even 3 players batting under .250, let alone seven!

Received this photo yesterday from a friend in Shenyang China. This is a very ubiquitous street, bike lane, pedestrian walk arrangement in cities all around China. It’s often much more crowded in busy areas and larger cities, as you can imagine.

There’s no reason that any city delivery needs to be completed in 20-25+ foot long vans and trucks. The built environment is not designed for these large vehicles. If all delivery services use small vehicles (3 wheel electric vehicles, for example) this would better match the built environment

There are also hundreds of other international examples of wildly popular, crowded public pedestrian streets with successful businesses; for example Wangfujing and Qianmen streets in Beijing, and Nanjing Street in Shanghai (there’s many other examples in just these 2 cities!)

2025 statistics for pitching and batting, comparing the LA Dodgers with the Toronto Blue Jays. The teams were both very good this year! Both excellent in many statistics. And evenly matched, with a slight edge for Dodgers in many stats. And a slight edge for Blue Jays in some stats.

Current tax rates are only 37% for all income over $609,351. Many wealthy are able to make deductions to reduce their effective rate down to around 10-15%. US tax revenue is extremely low now. In 1976, all income over $100,000 was taxed at 70%. US Tax revenue was much higher then, than it is now.
