Government mandated bilingual fortunes 🍁🇨🇦 The French one is SO much prettier, so je la prends
In a quirk of fate, today I went running around the Jewellery Quarter with time to explore and I found myself running through an alleyway I’d never seen before. It spat me out next to the site of the long lost Lessar Brother’s sign on Hylton Street, which was a favourite of Brian’s and mine.
Ok, perhaps I’m underplaying how good the day is ;) Sutton Fun Run was lovely. I saw inside the Assembly Rooms for the first time and they’re gorgeous. A pal is about to host a post run pizza party and his fridge is full of St Austell Proper Job (I dropped it off yesterday 👌)
Just ran past a fella who’d clearly gone out this morning in his Arsenal shirt, all full of pride, but come six o’clock he’s fucking _done_ with strangers giving him the thumbs up and saying “congratulations”

Picture doing the rounds of a guy trying back doors around our ends. Can’t believe Street Hawk fell on hard times

Further information on the NEU strikes at Arthur Terry Learning Partnership Since this letter was written it emerged that the top slice was actually 29% not 20%, which I corrected in the alt text.
“you wanna be a big man in a small town? Fuck off up the model Huddersfield!”
Two things I’ve so far discovered, rewatching Friends in 2025/26, that I didn’t or couldn’t appreciate back in the 90s: 1. At Monica’s apartment they always make coffee in a chemex. 2. Friends predicted the tech billionaire to MMA pipeline with the introduction of Jon Favreau’s Pete Becker.
He played a blinder there tbh cos I looked him up after and google just showed this.
There’s a pub on Watling Street in Grendon that’s actually a coop which always throws me when I drive past it
I’ve just recently got into reading Christopher Priest. If you’ve not read him you’re probably familiar with his work via Nolan’s adaptation of his novel, The Prestige—that’s a good place to start reading him (as I did) as Nolan left enough behind that you’ll discover a new depth to the story.
