DNA doesn’t often work in scab cases. Our lives would be a whole lot easier if it did, but the problem is that the Silver are constantly drinking other people’s blood, imbibing other people’s DNA. That blood doesn’t get processed and discarded by our digestive systems with our food. Instead, it filters out into our own blood, spreading through our bodies to be used in repairing damaged cells, then it stays there until it’s replaced again. In our long lives we become chimeras several thousand times over, comprised of little pieces of everyone whose blood we have ever drunk. We are a patchwork of DNA.
