I grew up in a house with honest linoleum! more like this style than black-and-white checkerboard (which IMO would be too visually distracting) but I think it works pretty dang well

school classroom with the classic sort of linoleum flooring. each tile is roughly a foot square and they are red, blue, yellow, and beige making up a pattern around the tables.
