I build models for fun, here to keep informed on Ukraine's defense and news. 🇦🇺 🇺🇦 🇬🇧
Rear lights are in with the front window painted. Bonnet hinges are attached and space tested in the engine bay.
007's Mach 1 Mustang is coming along nicely. Two coats of clear on top of one clear red, time to wait until these harden up. I will then mask the body and paint the chrome around the windows. Still a bit to go.
First coat of paint on the body with decals to apply on multiple places in the engine bay, not to much left to do.
The engine is in and the interior is finished. I have a little bit to do in the engine bay. I am still to start painting the body but the primmer is on Mr. Bond's Mach 1 Mustang.
Well I am still working, ever so slowly on the 007 Mustang engine. I was at the markets again and this gem appeared, some Munsters cars in the build pipeline.
I got a crack in my 14 year old watch band so I pulled it apart cleaned the watch and fitted a replacement one. It cost a hundred dollars to buy the band, but it's almost like new(still has scratches on the face).
007's Mach 1 Mustang by Revell is next. My eldest daughter got me this one so another one less in the stash. Has anyone used the supplied paints before? I have all but two in the same airbrush paints.
All but finished, I am going to look at the front hood flames tomorrow, I hope the decal set works.
Got my SMS paint delivery the colour is good. I also bought the limited edition 10 year coin because why not. I put a second clear coat on the body to early and got some spider webs in the process. It is only in this one corner, so I will let it cure and I hope to sand it out.
Added some spinner hubs to the front wheels. Engine wiring came out better than I expected, good looking jewelry box.
Now while waiting on my paint delivery, I have finished the interior with a bit of flocking on the parcel shelf. The chassis, suspension and wheels fitted nicely.
I have read ahead in the instructions and part 40 is the missing radiator hose. I'm glad as my replacement part attempt was terrible. The distributor has its wire to the ignition coil. I'm hoping I have put enough braided line on the wire to complete the last eight wires.
Today tasks are wiring up the distributor. I have found the radiator hose onto of the water pump hasn't been formed on the spruce, so I am making a new one with wire.
I got the engine together today which was an ordeal. I started by cleaning my dedicated Iwata TRN1 primer airbrush, in the process I snapped the nozzle. So after going to the hobby shop which had one in stock, here I am.
Okay next a 1/25 Revell 49 Mercury, I ordered some Ultra Blue SMS paint for the body which will look great with the yellow flames. There are many options in this kit, which will be fun.
I got the swing arm finished and for the eagle eyed I've put the wrong Michelin decals on the back tyre. I destroyed the Troy Bayliss Pilot decals and almost pulled the red pin strip off in the process. It's all about compromise and fault fixing in this hobby.
Still working on the fairings, they need to be wet sanded and decals added. Then I will top clear coat them ready for final install. Today progress is being made on the swing arm, chain and back wheel.
Front suspension on, with the brakes to be finished with some decals. I will paint the fairings Italian red tomorrow. I am happy with the progress so far.
I went to the Carrara markets today for the first time in decades. I just happened to find a retro model shop there and got these two kits.
That's enough for today. Sanded the tyre lines down put the air box into the frame with the engine.
