Unapologetic liberal, dog dad, housing preservationist, practicing Christian, active community member, fan of the Milwaukee Bucks and St. Louis Cardinals, looking for friends at the end of the world.
I met Holly Chou, voice of Jubilee in X-Men '97, at Duluth's ExcaliburCon! Things we have in common: We love the character arc of Jubilee in the comics and animated series. We are both suckers for the foil cover variants. We especially love @gailsimone.bsky.social's run on Uncanny X-Men!
This morning the Democratic nominees for statewide offices came to Superior. Those are Governor - David Crowley Lt. Governor - Sarah Godlewski Attorney General - Josh Kaul Treasurer - Yee Leng Xiong Secretary of State - JoCasta Zamarripa
And Bryan Thao Worra @thaoworra.bsky.social had a mutual friend commemorate Rayne through this artwork. It contains a lot of "Easter eggs" such as the cheeseburger she'd get after every vet visit, and the time we were chased by a bear. Thank you to everyone who has helped celebrate Rayne's memory!
This game-winning diving catch by Everson Pereira happened right in front of me! And the Cards scored 7, so I get coffee for sixty cents when I'm On the Run out of town.
My seat for the Cardinals vs. Rockies, right on the 3rd base line. If I catch a batted ball, I'm keeping it. If a player or grounds crew person throws one my way, I'm finding a kid to give it to. Those are the rules, folks.
Ballpark Village has the best approach to a stadium in all of Major League Baseball. I will fight you on this.
It wouldn't be a proper Robert Earl Keen concert without "The Road Goes on Forever and the Party Never Ends."
Most of my favorite folk/country musicians have either passed on or stopped touring in their old age. I might not have another chance to see Robert Earl Keen, and The Dakota is such an intimate concert setting.
Jazzy watching over the front porch in exactly the same spot as her sister did. Then, as is common for this dog, she falls asleep in an adorable but quite awkward pose. This time with a paw extended towards Rayne's prints.
Rayne's favorite place in the whole wide world was the front porch, both in Minneapolis and Superior. So I knew once her ashes came back that I would trace her paw prints and mix paint and her ashes. This way Rayne will always be watching over the porch for me.
I once made hula hoops for a school when I was on a trip to Tanzania, and the now-defunct hooping dot org website gave me the title of "World Hooping Ambassador."
Sauron was a cancer researcher who gave up on his dream after NIH cuts.
My beer tonight, in honor of what Minneapolis has given our country.
About twelve years ago I made my first attempt at Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in Texas. I was young, dumb(er), and underestimated that mountain. An older, wiser hiker is going to be attempting it this time in Sept, state high point number 32, followed by a trip to nearby Carlsbad Caverns.
Halfway done with the brick tile over the kitchen chimney stack, and Jazzy approves!
I blame Antifa's underwater munitions expert.
Probably the best one of these I've seen.
Would he be Darth Brooks or Sith Gaines?
