whatever else is happening here, and it's a lot, mandate politics are being used in direct juxtaposition to process and rule of law, something i kinda cautioned about when writing about this subject 10 yearsa go.
i guess the thing is that if enforcing rules and norms that suggest we have to live with other people and consider their feelings is politically toxic, "preachy," etc. then we are not going to have much of a society or democracy
