I have formed the hypothesis that my cat's fur is so SOFT because her undercoat is most of her fur; she has many fewer guard hairs than some other cats I've met. SHE IS SO SOFT. Thank you for this, universe.

The shelf project is DONE!!! It took months to get to it all, especially with how long the cut-to-size custom laminate shelves took to arrive. The one advantage of having done it in gradual stages is that I was able to adjust my sense of what the optimal setup would be.

Monster pantry cabinet with completed pull-out shelves! There are now three pull-out shelves full of food under the fixed shelf on the left side, and two on the right with dishes and baking pans.

The "small" part of my pantry project. This small cabinet was virtually unusable because you couldn't see anything you put in it, but now it has two pull-out shelves. The top one has tea supplies and the bottom one holds our alcohol supply. The heavy-duty locking drawer slides have no trouble with all the heavy bottles.

I tried something new! It turns out my cat's undercoat is SPINNABLE. I have never made yarn before and I feel ridiculously proud of myself about it.😁

The thief of floof! Our pup, a Shiverer, is wearing his robe (made from my robe) but this is not enough! He must also sit on my wool sweater instead.

I'm on the tram to work. Just today, after trying it twice, I decided to do it on both workdays. I only lose 20 minutes of time, and gain back in relaxation during the ride, exercise (walking), and lowered gasoline costs.

The nicest part of my morning. I am starting to be able to do this on a regular basis, and I'm thrilled that she's found this time for me.

I'm trying to write because that's what I can do for the world, even though it doesn't feel like much or like enough. I'm doing my best to speak truth. Here's a picture of my cat in case you need a moment of softness. (more in alt text)

My cat is sitting on my lap - a special occurrence. The background is the gray stone tiles of my deck, with a glimpse of a tall black planter box in the upper left and a rocking foldable deck chair at the top. Sunlight is reflecting from the tiles at the top of the image. At the bottom you can see blue flowers with white centers on my shirt. I have a gray fleece blanket on my lap and my cat is curled there looking out at the world. She is white and fluffy with spots. You can just see the start of her tail, which is orange- and brown-tabby. The top of her colorful tail gives into a few small orange spots like freckles. She has a large orange-tabby spot on the lower section of her back and a large orange-tabby spot overlaid by a large brown-tabby spot on the upper section of her back near her shoulder blades. Between the two large spots is one small orange one, and there are three more small orange spots just below her neck. Her left ear is orange-tabby and there is one tiny orange spot near the base of her right ear. She was feeling contemplative and didn't look at me when I called her name.

The Cranbourne Royal Botanical Gardens are *amazing*. They are not far from Melbourne. They have been so carefully designed! You never know when you will come across an entirely different view.
