Strange Houses by Uketsu. Loved the interview format of its dialogue, it made the confessional narrative structure flow better than in Strange Pictures. The twists felt more shocking and the lingering theme of “misdirection by design” made it an entertaining page turner.

The ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle. A wonderful reimagining of the Horror of Red Hook about the true eldritch horror, systemic racism. Was rooting for Tom the entire time and happy he got to fuck up dem cops!

Loved Model Home by Rivers Solomon. a haunted house story that uses stream of consciousness to depict the intrusive thoughts and neuroticism of being in the sunken place. Haunting and comedically dark, its themes of racism, black excellency, and mental illness resonated with me on so many levels

There is No Anti-Memetics Division by qntm. I enjoyed the first 2/3rds when chapters are structured like an SCP monster of the week. It’s simple prose becomes its own downfall in the last 1/3 when things spiral. It could’ve leaned more with its absurdist meta narrative text like House of Leaves.

I finally read all the short stories of Michael Wehunt’s Greener Pastures! My favorites being Greener Pastures, the October Film Haunt: Under the House, and A Thousand Hundred Years! Loved the mixture of weird horror and southern gothic, made each setting and narration so ethereal!

My first Denpa vn, hits the nostalgic 2000s vn vibes juuuust right. Its prose and dialogue is a bit rocky but I enjoyed the yuri coming of age story about internalizing and escaping cycles of abuse.

I finished the whodunit classic, The Decagon house Murders yesterday. A Delightful cast of quirky characters that I didn’t want anyone to be the murderer, but alas the final twist got me! Loved the banter and flow of this book. Was surprised to find out this book gets really silly.
