We lost a good buddy this morning. She was old, and it was still sudden. I'm not a dog person, but she was gentle and charming, and we could not have asked for a better pup to fill out our family mess. Feeling a little lost tonight and like to think she's running with the waves over the rainbow. 🐾🌈💗

I am an ex-Calgarian, and always wary of conservatism since it dropped the "progressive" in Canada, but this encapsulates what politics *should* be, and I appreciate Farkas' honesty. Tribalism sucks. Politics are nuanced, and the best leaders find a way to compromise. Link in alt text. #cdnpoli

A lot of the frustration felt by Albertans is actually about the destructive ideology of the NDP’s mud hut wing currently running BC.

In the not too distant future, British Columbians are very likely to elect a common sense pro-growth government that will be broadly aligned with Alberta’s priorities.

We should lead, not leave, by working with our western neighbours to build big things together. That sure beats turning inward to become a landlocked statelet with no coastal access.

A final note, maybe of interest to poli nerds, note the difference in the Carney leadership vote in terms of all-party support and see for yourself which party is more unified behind their leader:

The article is paywalled, but bits like this are always interesting to me when teaching students to read beyond the headlines and numbers, because both can be used to manipulate public perception: #cdnpoli (I have no skin in this game. I don't vote for either party)

There were few Quebec or Atlantic delegates.
And although there was no concerted campaign to push Poilievre out the door, some Conservatives spent thousands of dollars to show up to vote their disapproval.

Iced wheels flinched & froze.
Now, bare riot of candles,
Dark fury of flowers,

If for us she arose,

The howl where we begin,
Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater

Change is only possible,

I took my tree down today, but probably could have left it up another 2-3 weeks. We bought it Nov. 28. It's still green and tips have new growth. And it still smells amazing. This is a sign, right? Pause the holidays?
