There’s a great children’s book that tells the story of her coming here & opening the restaurant, sadly I didn’t arrive here until long after it closed.
102/100 #BookSky 📚 This was great, I loved it. I had never heard of @scalzi.com until following him her, I think because it’s just an entertaining feed. He does “promote your book” posts every so often so I decided to try out one of his & it was so worth it.
I finished The Art Thief (& also listening to the audiobook of The Hobbit with my kid) this weekend.
The campground is really great, we’ve been there a couple of times when my parents had a 5th wheel so this is the 1st time we’ve stayed in a cabin & we were really impressed. This year they have a new splash pad (Mayflower themed) & pool, which is where we spent most of our time.
99/100 #BookSky 📱 I read the short story Focus by Carlos Hernandez & as a passive birder, it was a bit freaky - more because of the birders than the birds though. It was really good. I’ve read this author before with the Sal & Gabi books & it was fun to see something so completely different.
Before we went on vacation, we had a beach day. The kids have been asking since at least March. 🤣 It’s a very nice beach but going there is always complicated because we need MIL for the parking pass but dealing with her is usually fraught.
I’m way behind on my book posting because I’ve been on vacation but this is my June reading wrap up. I read 16 books (well 14 books & 2 short stories) last month, 13 fiction & 3 nonfiction. The House of Now And Then was my favorite of the month.#BookSky 12 were written by women, 4 by men this time.
We finally found it! I have a weakness for trying new flavored snacks & these are pretty decent. Plus we’re big K-pop fans in our house.
Unconventional dinner but it was actually really successful. Kids have been asking for soft pretzels for awhile & it was cool enough to bake, recipe from Savory Baking by Erin Jeanne McDowell.
98/100 #BookSky 📚 This was the pick for the @bpl.boston.gov #BrightonBranch book club & I had actually never read it before.
We set the butterflies free today. I felt a little bad because it’s so hot but there was nothing we could do about that. We ended up with 7 out of a possible 10 which I think is pretty good.
We always start & end the school year with THE chocolate chip cookies so for our last #FridayCookieChat that’s what we did. Somehow, even though I used a scoop, I got wildly different sizes. 🤷♀️ They still tasted excellent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommend #BakeSky #FoodSky #CookieSky #Yum 🍪
89/100 #BookSky 📱 This was really good. A trans man running from a failed relationship in Boston rents a cabin on Cape Cod for the summer. The only problem is, each room in the cabin is inhabited (magically) by someone from his past he is running from & they won’t go away until he faces them.
It’s happening! We have 2 out so far. I didn’t remember this from before but the whole butterfly process is pretty gross. 🫣🦋
Finally got around to securing some bubbly things (from TJs) should we have any need to celebrate anytime soon. 🤞🏼🤔😏🍾
