Went to a screening of CANDYMAN (1992) at the Bucktown-Wicker Park branch for #hatquest. The librarian was tickled by how many of us were there (12?). Always nice to make a librarian smile!

I wanted to petition my block for speed bumps since there’s a playlot on the street, but apparently there was a very dramatic failed attempt 3 years ago (before I lived here). My alder’s chief of staff said he’d look into signs, and this morning they appeared!

First bike commute of 2026 in the bag. Just one block of bike lane randomly closed with no detour and only 2 miles of light but persistent mist. It was surprisingly clear by the time I got to the lake!

Update: I asked if we could circumvent the petition requirement given the park. His response:

The traffic calming tools CDOT has are primarily geared toward mid-block locations rather than nearby an intersection. Federal guidelines typically preclude traffic calming implements near crosswalks and intersections. An exception is curb extensions, which are designed primarily to assist with pedestrians crossing in crosswalks. However, I doubt that curb extensions at the intersection of XXX and XXX would accomplish much by way of traffic calming, as vehicles have to at least slow down as they approach the intersection since they can't proceed westbound.l will check with CDOT to see if they can look into park related signs on XXX, but the research generally suggests that such signs have limited efficacy.

I’m not a stranger to bike share. It was my primary mode of transportation in Denver until it shut down in January 2020. On the hottest day of 2014, I rode to all 83 B-Cycle stations. I occasionally cracked the top 10 riders (live updating website, it was incredible).

The announcement screens at Belmont are so funny. They are parallel to the platform, so impossible to see unless you turn your back to the tracks in the 10 ft directly in front of them. But they are actually very easy to read from the opposite platform, where the arrival info is entirely useless.

I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon - Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. They're stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! Look at their past, look at their record. They don't have what it takes, and they never did! They've all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren't even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they're NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some "free" and cheap publicity.
Now they think they get some "clicks" because they have Third Rate Podcasts, but nobody's talking about them, and their views are the opposite of MAGA — Or I wouldn't have won the Presidential Election in a LANDSLIDE. MAGA agrees with me, and just gave CNN a 100% Approval Rating of "TRUMP," not Hand Flailing Fools like Tucker Carlson, who couldn't even finish College, he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox, and he's never been the same - Perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist! Or Megyn Kelly, who nastily asked me the now famous, "Only Rosie O'Donnell," question, or
