Tonight I read A Sorceress Comes to Call (also by @tkingfisher.com), which was also highly enjoyable. Probably will at least start on Hemlock & Silver tomorrow. Which reminds me, I got to see wolfsbane in bloom while I was in Alaska, so that was neat!

Some very round purple flowers (wolfsbane), shaped vaguely like a coin standing on edge, next to a bunch of other Alaskan wildflowers that I mostly don’t remember the names of now but the tall stem of pink buds might be fireweed?

I picked up these two rocks today while snorkeling in Ketchikan, Alaska. The white one is probably quartz, I don’t know what the other one is (slate? Schist? I dunno.)

2 rocks held in a hand over a white comforter. One rock is small and cream colored and I think is some form of quartz. The other rock is flat and gray and shiny.

There’s a whole genre of photos of him wearing pants that are too tight just in the crotch that make it extremely obvious. Usually they are khakis.

Yesterday was very hectic, but I made it to my seat early today!

I finished my mock-up jeogori! I used almost the entire singular curtain panel that I found at the thrift store. It’s a heavy cotton. I love the pattern on the fabric. 😍 I messed up quite a bit on the collar, and need to make some more modifications when I make the next version, but I’m happy w/it.

Me, from the front, wearing a homemade jeogori hanbok shirt. It has elbow-length sleeves, and is a cross-front wrap shirt. The length reaches my hips. The fabric is dark blue with a very large pattern in mottled white and light green of peacocks and flowers.

I finally put together my Almost All Edges puzzle that I got, like, a year ago. I decided it would be a lovely activity to do yesterday, and it was.

A puzzle that is almost all edge pieces assembled on a puzzle table. The image is of a river and a pond, with lots of rocks and plants and small creatures (mainly anthropomorphized mice) scattered along the edges and in the water. The river looks like a maze, with lots of squared off curves and twists and turns. All the spaces between the twisty river channel, where there would normally be background pieces, have no pieces in them.

Woke up early this morning, went to the arboretum with spouse and youngest child, I got to go see coatimundis for the 1st time while they picked out some native and/or low-water desert plants to buy, then we came home and I got to take a long bath then eat and drink a glass of wine while they’ve

A coatimundi (a mammal in the raccoon family native to the southwestern US, Mexico, and Central and South America) in a tree, looking for fruit or bugs probably. It’s hard to see behind the foliage, but it is standing fairly upright on its hind legs against the tree trunk. It has golden light brown fur over most of its body, with some darker and lighter markings on its face and ears. It has a very, very long tail that is about as thick at its base as its hind thigh. The tail I think is about the same length as the coatimundi’s legs and body and snout are, all stretched out.

Another coati foraging through the leaf mulch covering the ground, surrounded by sparse vegetation and dappled sunlight filtering through the trees. The coatimundi happens to be in a patch of sunlight, making its rich russet coat stand out nicely. She is using her front paws and snout to dig through the leaves looking for bugs, and her tail is sticking upright in the air. The tip of her tail is darker fur, like her facial markings.

The arboretum employee said they’ve got 7 coatis hanging out there right now. There were 13, but the others left after winter mating season was done. He said the groups are almost entirely females, they kick the males out after they’re 2 years old. The males are solitary for most of the year but some come and hang with the group during mating season.

She is facing to the left and her face is angled a bit towards the camera so you can see her features fairly well. She’s got a long narrow light-colored snout with a decently sized black nose at the end of it. She has light markings around her eyes, surrounded by some slightly darker fur on her cheeks and forehead. She’s got little round-ish ears on the top corners of her face. You can see the top part of her body but not really her legs or tail.

If you can imagine a mix of a raccoon, a fox, a red panda, a lemur, and a ringtail, that’s what i think coatimundis look like.

Today was a day for my skull bracelets and my suncatcher raincloud earrings.

I already made one towel from this project on the loom I was renting before. I haven’t hemmed it yet, but you can see the pattern a bit better in this photo. That towel is a bit short, I will have to make this one quite a bit longer I think! (I had to remove the project to return that loom)

A towel woven in blue and purple yarn with the same pattern and yarn as the one that’s on the loom in the photo above. It hasn’t been trimmed or hemmed yet, and is very nubbly and probably needs an ironing. The pattern kind of looks like squares or interlocking rings in this photo.

Well, I’m nowhere close to done, but I got a couple of pattern repeats woven so you can get a vague idea of what it will look like when I’m done weaving (though you will probably have to zoom in to really see it). It’s a color & weave huck lace pattern. I remembered to set up floating selvedges too!

A weaving project that’s just been started on a floor loom. The loom is made of maple wood and is not completely in frame. The weaving is blue and purple threads but it looks mostly blue so far. A pair of knees clad in black space/moon phase pajama pants from Svaha are just visible at the bottom of the frame.

I finally realized what this hairstyling on Jimin reminds me of: The Little Prince.

Tae’s neck mole I think is maybe a little further up and forward than Jin’s so I suspect the Jimin photo is Jin like you said. (My friend is in Korea right now so I don’t know when they’ll respond.)

I wanted to wear an ocean-themed outfit today in honor of Swim, but it is too hot outside today so I went with my vaguely-animal-print paisley overalls instead in honor of Like Animals. I really love all the songs on BTS’s new album, Arirang. They had me dancing around bathroom this morning.

Thanks mostly to my friends on here who are willing to accept dupes they already have from me on b-cd in exchange for cards I don’t have yet, I have been able to collect a lot more digital BTS photocards. I find it immensely satisfying every time I get to cross a category out!

A half-sheet of printer paper with a list of some of the categories of photocards on b-cd.app with the BTS member cards I still need from each category written next to them. Lots of the names are scribbled out.

An example of the text is “Black Swan (MOTS 7 AM) - BTS, Jin”. I’ve used lots of abbreviations for things that you probably won’t understand unless you’re also a BTS fan.

The other half of the sheet of printer paper with a lot more writing crammed on it. Some of the categories here are crossed out because they were not helpful long-term, for example “IDOL (LY-A AM) - all but Jin”.

I finished knitting sock number two! And I wove in my ends!! My first ever pair of knitted socks is done!! I have no faith whatsoever that my 2x2 ribbing will help hold them up but hopefully between the thickness of the yarn and how well they fit the rest of my feet they won’t fall down too badly.

Version 3 I like better than version 2, though version 1 is still my favorite.

A third version of the same lover’s knot, with the knot still tied in just red cord but made to look more like a flower with four large petals. The keychain-y loop at the top is tied with thin white cord. There’s the same silver lotus charm and red tassel below the knot as with all the others.

I think I may have found The Knot I want to tie for my freebies. The knot itself is apparently the Lover’s Knot, and isn’t in and of itself too hard to tie. The hardest part is keeping the red and white cords in order if I decide to use both. I like it a lot with both, but it’s fiddly.

A couple more tests as I try to figure out what’s gonna be doable for me to make for some concert freebies while also being something I’m happy with how it looks. More tests are needed still. (I have a limited number of the lotus charms and the tassels so I can’t make many this nice.)

I finished the bit of my roving I was spinning off of and think it’s probably time to take the turtle off the spindle so I can start a new one and eventually have multiple little turtles to ply together. I just need to figure out how to take it off without anything unwinding itself. 😅

I made myself a little norigae! I was thinking of attempting to make a bunch of these for freebies, but connecting the big knot to the charm to the tassel took entirely too long, so maybe I will just make some much simpler ones sans lotus charm.

A very small norigae with a tiny red tassel, a silver lotus charm and a couple of small Korean knots (maedeup) along the red string to the big knot (which is about 1” across), which is a chrysanthemum knot tied with red cord paired with very thin white cord. The knot is woven together in the center and has seven petals coming out around the edges.

I went and read their article about GQ’s article, and holy crap, it’s so bad. 😂 They just summed it up, poorly, and cherry-picked a few quotes from it.

I just got this pc from bcd Dark&Wild album streaming mission the other day, and how did anybody at the time possibly think this man was straight?! 😂

The knotting cord (surprise, surprise) worked very well, though it’s that terrible tinsely silver material on the outside, and the cord diameter is smaller than I want. The white braided nylon cord also worked very well, save for being kind of flat instead of round. At least it’s the size I want.

Two more of the flat circle-ish flower oval ring knots on top of the blue blanket. The one on the left is very small and made with silver “knotting cord”, while the one on the right is larger and was made with white braided nylon cord. Both only have two strands of cord braided through, rather than the four strands of the red yarn one.

The rattail cord I bought is quite slippery and a bit difficult to work with for tying knots. I bought a braided red yarn to try, but it’s too floppy to hold its shape well. I’ve now got some braided nylon cord and some knotting cord, we will see how they do before I pick one to get in red.
