Roycroft Renaissance Artisan in Clay. Please join me on my journey of creating art pottery in craftsman style and techniques.
Inspired by Newcomb, these morning glories will be happy to see you every day. When living in Maine there was a telephone pole by my house that would just burst open every morning in the summer to greet me on my way to work. #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
“Peavine” was influenced by vintage Japanese botanical illustrations of mame, or pea plants. It feature winding vines, softly modeled leaves, blossoms, and a single visible pea pod—an understated detail that inspired the vase’s name. #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
The Craftsman Poppy vase was inspired by the cover of a 1910 Craftsman magazine. I just loved the cover and tried some shading techniques that Frederick Hurten Rhead employed. 9.25" H x 4" W #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
The Elephant Ear was this year's physical entry to the Roycroft Master jury. In order for me to keep the right to use the Roycroft Renaissance stamp, I must have one physical piece and 3-4 photos of my work judged annually ... #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
Eoghann's Tree Tile Set of 2 Meet Eoghann's Tree — a set of ceramic tiles made in collaboration between Scottish woodworker Eoghann Menzies and myself, Kathleen Jones. Inspired by the Arts and Crafts era (think Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Archibald Knox). #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
A second means it's not perfect and the Roycroft Renaissance stamp has been permanently crossed out. See photo of the hairline crack in the bottom as I left it too thick there. My loss, your gain for a piece that still displays very well.
Hillside Vase (***SECOND***) 7.75" H x 4.25" W I've done this design before as a 2x6 tile and thought it deserved a little larger display. The cedar background color on this is so beautiful I couldn't toss it. #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction #potterysecond
Nouveau Thistle Vase 7.75" h x 6" w Maybe more a secessionist period design? I've always had a problem telling those two apart. At any rate, here are some playful Thistles to brighten up your day and a nod to my Scottish heritage. #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
Muguet de Mai Vase My mother often wore "Muguet" as my father knew a salesman from Coty and would bring home samples. I can smell it even now. I swore I'd never do this design again as the tiny flowers are difficult to keep defined, but it was much easier to do than in 2022. Quite sweet! #pottery
Saturday Evening Girls Style Clock You've lived with me throughout the trials and tribulations of this piece, and after many many hours I'm so happy to be able to present this mantel clock to you! I hope it makes you smile. 13.5" h x 12" w #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction #clock
Moroccan Locust Vase This was my "fun" vase for this update. I found an image of a Babylonian grasshopper carved in 1800-1700 BC and thought it was amazing...although not a grasshopper, I decided it was a locust. Either way, here's my interpretation of the little bugger. Enjoy! 4"h x 6"w #pottery
SHOP UPDATE coming to eBay on August 11th, 3pm Pacific. Mark your calendars now!! Individual photos coming here soon. #pottery #roycroftartisan #ebayauction
Almost done!! When did I start this? About a month and a half ago?! Although I certainly haven't spent every hour on it, it has possessed my life for the past month. #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Muguet de mai in process. I hope you've been enjoying the summer! We went on a short camping trip by the Truckee River. It was so nice to just sit there and listen to the river. 2 more coats to go and next...the clock is ready to glaze! #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
The not-at-all-scary-part where you pick up the dried mud and put it in the kiln. Spoiler: It made it in! #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Hillside is just about done. Hope your celebrations were great! #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Sometimes you just have to make something :) So this is what I've been up to the past week. It's now "sleeping" until it's totally dry. Do you remember the first time I did this? #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
I took a day off today... so that means cooking!! Traditional Pollo alla Cacciatora is busy simmering on the stove since it's not 95⁰ today. #cookingwithlove #PastaGrammar
Note: There WILL NOT be a shop update in June! I'm going to try and get a few more things done, so probably later half in July? I've got some exciting things coming up. Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, a tiny sneak peek of a few 👀 #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Theo says Happy #Caturday, and nope... you're not working right now mom! 🥰 #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Craftsman Poppies. You might remember this design as it was a Roycroft entry in 2023. It still needs a few hours of work tomorrow. I love poppies ❤️ #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Morning Glory 🌞 Just one more coat to do this morning, then on to the next. #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
You know when the Crayola apron comes out it's glazing time!! #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Today's project. Just one more side left to wax! I made this design quite sometime ago and finally the right pot has appeared. Ok I'll 'fess up. I was afraid to start it because his is a LOT of lines and will be quite fussy to glaze. But here I go! #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Theo just discovered the heat lamp that I use to speed up drying. 😆 So this vase should have been done days ago but yep... I got sick again. If I have anything for June it will be a miracle. Just letting you know my quarterly update may not happen. 😢 #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
I was just sitting outside on the porch cleaning this up....and oh man it's just beautiful outside right now! Field Thistles. I started this a couple of days ago while waiting for the bisque fire to finish. A little Rhead flavor maybe? #pottery #roycroftartisan #inthestudiotoday
Ok! Housework is done! Let's load this kiln! Honestly, I barely remember making these as I was feeling so miserable, but there's some very cool shapes here! #pottery
I had to take a peek to see what this went for yesterday. Omg... Yep. $19,200 What an amazing piece 💕o
After my tooth, sinus infection, and a couple of medical and dental procedures I'm finally back on my feet. This past week we had a planned camping trip so that was my recovery period.
Just a quick announcement!! I'm so honored to continue as a Roycroft Renaissance Artisan in Ceramics for another year as I pursue master status. Without your support, this would just be a dream thank you all! #pottery #roycroftartisan
