Sent this letter to my members of congress, all Dems. Hold strong against ICE/CBP abuses, @durbin.senate.gov @duckworth.senate.gov

NO FUNDING FOR DHS WITHOUT HEAVY LIMITS ON ICE/CBP.
I'm begging my Democratic members of Congress to hold the line on funding DHS. No funding without accountability and guardrails.
Agents may not wear masks, and they must wear identifying badges.
Home invasions are not allowed unless there is a judicial warrant.
No use of weaponry on civilian protestors and observers under any circumstances - not tear gas, pepper balls, or any type of munitions.
Surges or other "occupations" of American cities must be banned.
No one, no matter what their citizenship status, may be put into detention without due process. Arrest and detention must be carried out lawfully, without aggressive violence.
No more "Kavanaugh stops" or other profiling based on skin color or appearance. No stopping of vehicles or interference with drivers or passengers unless there is probable cause.
Let's bring law back into law enforcement, shall we? Thanks.

To Senators Durbin and Duckworth and Rep Davis:

I’m writing today to ask you, how will YOU raise YOUR bar and engage in direct action to push back on the damage being done to our democracy?

This week, Senator Van Hollen of Maryland showed us one way it’s done. I’m sure you followed the news of his stunning trip to El Salvador, where he actually succeeded in meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, followed by his incredible press briefing. And he’s not stopping there. What will he do next?

Another stunning example is being set by Senator Sanders and Representative Ocasio-Cortez. I’m sure you are aware of the enormous crowds they are drawing on their tour, even in deep-red states. Their messages are proving to be very popular with the American people. Take note.

EVERY DEMOCRAT IN CONGRESS SHOULD BE WORKING AT THIS LEVEL. The time is NOW. We are on the verge of losing everything. Push back. Be loud. Be heard. LEAD.
