The Fairest Of Them All

Having some fun throwing our long-suffering example crew into some more Situations #FarField

GM: The ship is burning hot and fast; it looks like some of the solid-state booster fuel has caught alight, and there’s no way to stop it short of explosion or burnout. The heat is tremendous and the smoke billowing from the fire is sat low to the ground obscuring visibility. As you get close you pick up a distress call – somewhere in that burning wreck someone is alive, but they might not be for long.
Fatima: We need to act fast.
GM: There’s more, I’m afraid. Whether it was the force of the impact, the weight of the ship, or the heat of the fire, something is happening to the ice under your feet. You you can hear long echoing cracks as the ice shifts, and it might only be a matter of time before the ship melts through entirely.
Sasha: Cool.
GM: Since you only managed to get two pieces of survey data before coming here, I’m going to apply a narrative complication as an adjustment. I’m going to say that the ship itself is fully locked down, so you can’t easily open a hatch or door, and even if you get inside all the bulkheads are sealed.
Fatima: It just keeps getting worse.

The best part about getting to write this book is getting to have a little fun with it #FarField

The product of a Karrakin terraforming project abandoned after the Interest War, the coastline has been modeled on the famously dramatic fjords of Karrakis’ southernmost continent. The landscape bears the hallmarks of a COMMENCER project left to go wild for many centuries without upkeep, but it is clear that the geotect responsible for the design of this coast did so with immense love and care, managing to adapt famous landforms from the original coastline to the new world’s unique weather and hydrological patterns with an uncanny level of precision, and elsewhere embedding their own signature in the cliffside.
