A girl with a lot of jobs who loves to bake for people. I get a lot of joy out of gardening and exercising. Certified menopause practitioner, lifestyle med and chronic pain provider.
I wanted vanilla ice cream with butterscotch. So I made some. I’m so glad I did.
Picked up my summer reading challenge prize from the library today, I love the illustration! The tote bag is actually pretty sturdy, also! For my “explore” badge for the challenge I listened to music on Crescent city sounds, what a great resource! Had never used before…
I second Sherwin-Williams. I think I chose glacier, but I can’t remember. But their product is good, have used both interior and exterior.
At 4 pm today I realized I had only had a protein drink, an iced coffee and a banana. No wonder I felt bad!! So I made some ramen for dinner. The pre-made broth from Costco is good!! Soft boiled egg, shrimp, garlic chives, local corn, sesame oil.
There is a helicopter just hanging out overhead for the past 2.5 hrs. Too far away to see what it is, but definitely not coast guard and I don’t think Ochsner, so I’m guessing NOPD and they’re looking for someone in Broadmoor! (Also someone dared to walk by the fence so security dog was on the job!)
She is getting her allotted 5 minutes in the sun to bake so that she doesn’t file an HR complaint against me, but I have the timer on. She will not be pleased, but sadly she is not reasonable enough to know we should not lay on hot concrete in the middle of the day when it’s 92 degrees out.
One of my besties is coming home tomorrow from taking care of her Mom for the past 2 weeks prior to Mom’s assisted living/memory care entry. She loves coffee cake so I made her one, and it came out perfect. I’m going to have to give it to her with a few pieces missing!😁
If anyone sees these chips at Costco, you should probably get them. They’re delicious. Not a super strong flavor, but slightly addictive.
Finished reading this last night. What a fun book! Took some deep turns I wasn’t expecting, I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend. (Returning it to the library today, so it will be available later!)
Ok, I have absolutely nothing to compare it to bc I am not a gyro connoisseur (I usually get chicken shawarma) but this pre-packaged gyro meat from Costco is good!! Sautéed it up, made some tzatziki, added to lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, hummus, picked onions and feta. Quite yummy!!
Just came home to find my African violet looking pretty perfect. I’ll take it!
I arrived in MA last night, and today accompanied my best friend to take his dog for his final vet appt. I saw him this am and knew he would not make it to the appt time, so we called and brought him in sooner. He was such a good boy, and had a great life. I’m so grateful I got to see him out.
I’m laughing so hard. I bought a cheap oven thermometer to test one of my new ovens. Set to 375 and had been on for about 15 minutes, thermometer was reading 350. So I googled how to calibrate a KitchenAid wall oven… this is what came up. Kitchen aid says “F dem thermometers. We trust biscuits!”
Listening to it right now! Listened for a while on my beautiful walk this morning. I’ll definitely go check out the art bc I’ve been imagining it so far… Thanks!
A live (no) action shot. The other dog is currently in the backyard on possum patrol. She takes her shifts very seriously.
Go vote!! My polling place was pretty barren. I hit the awesome middle aged trifecta-voted, bought a new silicone baking mat and picked up my held book from the library. It’s a great day!
I have 10,000 things to do (and headed to work in a few, so nothing more today/this evening) so of course I just decided to clean out my closets and try on every pair of pants I own. Also, 28 pairs of yoga pants seems aggressive for a girl who refuses to wear them unless it’s below 70 degrees.
Didn’t feel well today. Blood sugar was 75-77 which is too low for me. And blood pressure was low. Then I went and gave blood. I’m an idiot. But, I just made myself a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and tomato soup and feeling very great about my comfort food choice!
Well, I guess I don’t have to wonder if my sourdough starter died during the kitchen renovation. I took it out of the fridge yesterday and let it warm up and then fed it last night (photo on right). This morning I heard a noise and just came into the kitchen to find the cover about 2 feet away. Lol.
Mostly!! And even better, I found your plate from Christmas Eve!! Can’t wait for you to come see it!
Thank you!!! You are correct, way bigger. There was a wall between the kitchen and dining room that got knocked out… they really did an amazing job, the whole team. And, this was my general contractors *first* real project (he’s a friend of a friend (my friend now, too!) so I took a chance…).
Disregard the stuff all over the counters (still figuring out where everything goes! Hoping to make good progress today!). It’s so gorgeous. I cannot believe I get to live here. The whole crew did such an amazing job.
Still figuring out where everything is in my new kitchen… but the new wall oven makes pizza perfectly!! I was going to do chicken and mushrooms but my mushrooms were 🤮. So, chicken, sun dried tomatoes, onions and artichokes, with a small mountain of basil on top. It was so good!
Civic duty, done! It’s funny how you don’t realize how visible you are to other people. The 2 ladies checking voters in both commented that they have not seen me walking in the neighborhood as much as I normally do.Lol. I’ve been out of town, but very nice to know that people are looking out for me!
Friendships take work to maintain, sometimes. 45 years later and I’m glad we’ve put in the work. We vacation together and we make time for each other, despite being partnered and living 2500 miles apart and having busy lives!
Costco has packaged pork tonkotsu broth that is really good!! So I buy cheap ramen, just use the noodles, put them in broth with whatever else I have, and a 7 min egg and scallions… good ramen is so good!
