For the @wired.com Big Interview this week, I interviewed California gubernatorial hopeful and billionaire Tom Steyer. It was a tough hang for many reasons, but particularly because he didn't know who he was talking to.

It was an honor to accept the 2026 Hillman Prize for Magazine Journalism last night with @leahfeiger.bsky.social and @timmarchman.bsky.social. The WIRED team's DOGE coverage was unmatched -- fight me, nobody did it better -- and we're grateful to the @sidneyhillman.bsky.social for the recognition.
It's your lucky day because @wired.com sent photographers to two Melania premiere parties, and asked the superfans in attendance all about their love for the first lady. They had many, um, things to say.

The state of journalism is mostly bleak etc…but my 8-year-old is now the proud founder and editor of a school newspaper called THE WEEKLY SCOOP. One little reason for hope, I’ll take it! (And it’s a very scoopy first edition.)
