Very late to the #poemsabout party here! Here’s a little something. Hope it entertains 🪐 🌒 🚀

The text
reads:

Hawking’s disciple

The day he died, I found her crying.
She’s always had a thing for space.
She was eighteen when Armstrong
took his small step, just as she leapt.

Now what will we do? she wept.
A hundred years he reckoned
A hundred years to find Earth’s successor.

We’ll both be long gone, I say.

Did you know there’s a planet
so hot it rains iron? It vaporises
on one side, rains down on the other.

That one will be no good then.

We need to develop a super fuel,
use the moon as a launch pad
and ready-made satellite.

You’ve really looked into this.

Did you know, we only ever see
one side of the moon? When I go,
blast my ashes up there.

You’ll burn up in the atmosphere,
or else orbit Earth forever.

Nothing lasts forever.
A hundred years he reckoned.
Who will save us now?
