Honesty took her own life shortly after leaving prison. Her family, friends and legal representation gathered today to honor her. Please learn about her. She had a tragic life but still found a way to see the good in it and pass it on. She fought to make sure others wouldn't endure what she did.

Today is my last day at NPR's Midwest Newsroom. What a ride it's been. Incredibly grateful to this team for the past three and a half years and to the people who let me tell their stories. I'm starting my next gig Monday. Spoiler alert: I'm not going far!
Just now waking up from last night's embed with a Point-in-Time Count team in Jefferson City. They wrapped up their work in the early morning and told me they found a few more unhoused folks after we parted ways. An eye opening experience.
Missouri's recent snowfall complicates the count tonight. Lots of sites where the volunteers know people stay are abandoned.
Another fruitless tip as the team searches a wooded area near a fast food restaurant. They call out "we're here to help."
A break at the gas station and they're back at it. Here's Ashley Brandmeier, who runs Missouri Cares, discussing leads on where the team can find more folks. (This gas station had cheap double-As for my recorder, a big bonus.)
Counters work off of suggestions, clues and relationships to find unhoused folks on PIT count nights. Down this icy trail, they found remnants of a camp but no one there.
