We’ve been burning through some Criterion films recently and watched Lone Star for the first time. I was not expecting such a nuanced portrayal of race, identity, and immigration in a Texas border town from a 1996 film. Damn. It seemed downright prescient. Would recommend
RIP Sam Neill, whose sweaty performance in Possession somehow made more of an indelible impression on young me than Jurassic Park.

After living in SLC three years ago and driving past the Saltair pavilion, we only just watched Carnival of Souls for the first time. (I know, I know). Incredible for low-budget 1962 and shows how wide-ranging the horror genre can be. The Criterion film poster might be the best part. #filmsky
Salt Lake trip has become a favorite bookstore tour. Visited Legendarium. Next stop Under the Umbrella and onto King’s English.
