Keen to expand diversity of introduced dung beetles into Australia; embedding biochar in agriculture; (surviving) annihilating rw politics. No profile bio or posts = no follow back; no bitcoin or religion
A ventral view of Bubas bison, a winter-active dung beetle. The beetle itself helps control enteric parasites and other dung breeding pests. The wingless phonetic mites attached to the beetle hitch rides to the next dung pad where they, too, consume fly and other eggs.
Absolutely irrational that those who mostly believe politicians are looking out for themselves support One Nation!
My old trusty red Nursing Mothers cookbook has a recipe for 'healthy' ice-cream.
I noticed my Liquid Ambers' leaves are colouring red on the east side of the tree first (W. Aust). Is this an expected natural phenomenon?
Took a photo of mine this week. In blossom, leaves to follow. Also known as the Love tree, it was given to my by a friend when my husband died in 2009. As you can see - a small tree but steeped in sentiment!
Won't be in a rush to come back to this fuel stop. How widespread ate these signs?
Sisyphus rubrus, translocated from NSW, released on WA cattle properties. These 'roller' dung beetles differ from tunnelling species in how they disrupt a dung pad.
Took hourly photos of a dung pad this morning, starting with fresh droppings at 8.15. Onthophagus taurus (black beetles) and Euoniticellus fulvus (golden) had demolished it by 12.15pm. One of many benefits of these little fellows is destroying bush and stable fly breeding habitat.
About to start the summer job - killing blackberry (keeping an eye out for Tiger snakes!) - and cursing those colonials who thought it would be a good idea to introduce into Australia!
Week 1 of school holidays! Whether this is due to his insatiable thirst for learning (an incidental conversation yesterday) or due to the note in otherwise excellent report, encouraging him to work on spelling, is unknown. Kids keep scores, builds their self image, may not be the data schools seek!
Granddaughter off to kindergarten with her show and tell we assembled on her Grandma day!
