Today’s get: a Griffin iMate for adapting ADB devices to USB.
Am I the only person who thinks these press people (Komi and Kashio) in Akane-banashi are references to Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, respectively? Kashio’s got a camera too! They’re even sitting next to what looks like a Clark Kent (although the glasses guy isn’t wearing any press gear).
Decided to pass on it. There’s two of them! I bought a USB 2 / FireWire combo card instead.
Damn, an Adaptec USBXchange SCSI to USB adapter. 50 bucks is steep but… a lot cheaper than eBay.
@rsanders.bsky.social Gracie seen today at the thrift store
Around this time 20 years ago Sony started shipping the a100. It was their first modern interchangeable lens digital camera, based on the A-mount. Konica Minolta at first started a partnership with Sony, but then decided to bail entirely and sell the whole biz off to Sony.
This weekend marks the 30th anniversary of Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day. There’s a lot you can say about ID4 from a filmmaking/story/popular culture perspective but when I saw it at the Hoyt’s Cinemas at the Berkshire Mall I was obsessed with the system extensions on David Levinson’s PowerBook
Today: the summer New England vintage computer and retro games meetup at the Maynard public library! A great crowd with lots of attendees and volunteers.
The key cap power switch had disintegrated back in the day. This is how the previous owner MacGyvered a fix
The board is very clean; I’ll have to wire in a new clock battery.
After a short tear down, cleanup, and PSU test the Amiga 3000 is completely operational. Only fault is a bad second floppy drive causing Workbench to hang. Disabled DF1 and it was happy again. 2MB chip RAM and 4 MB fast RAM in ZIP chips. HD still works; imaged it and sent it to the previous owner.
Today’s get: an Amiga 3000. It came from a friend of my oldest brother. He’s letting it go because he’s moving and we came to an agreement for me to pick it up and give it a new home. Bunch of software and best of all no battery damage. I’ll try to archive the hard disk and send it his way.
They really missed a trick by not giving Squirtle some shades and calling this the “Squrtle Squad Car”
I have the day off today, and I’m celebrating by finishing a timeline with titles, animations, and timing.
Scope creep is real. I originally wanted this to just be yammering over some quickdraw demos, but my inability to sit in front of a camera means I end up punishing myself with something composed of hundreds of clips and other things that require finding and organizing
I spent 15 minutes making this 15 second bit. No wonder I never get anything done.
Hey, look what I found in the bottle pocket of my shoulder bag. I thought I lost this guy at anime Boston. I was especially sad because I designed it and this was the last example I had left. Now I can put it back on my grunkle Stan jacket where it belongs
A hat for @rsanders.bsky.social I saw at the thrift store
Found this while looking for something else last night. My first convention, almost 25 years ago. With such fun panels as “Bad anime! Bad!” “Mystery Anime Theater 3000” and “Catgirls to tease you and me.” I think I spent most of my time watching AMVs and rifling through bootlegs in the dealer hall.
So I think I have a solution for my Nagumo hoodie conundrum. I found this short-sleeved hoodie with contrasting zipper. Through the magic of buying two of them, I’ll have a tailor transplant the hood from a white version on to the blue version.
What the fuck is this, Discord? Ten messages for a scrollback buffer on resume? You have to be shitting me. It used to be 50 on desktop, then a few weeks ago it went down to 30, and now it’s at 10. Why does software have to keep getting worse? This isn’t even touching how bad scrollback is on mobile
Type-Right II typing tutor. Weird find but it makes sense as a classroom tool I suppose.
