We meet again, San Luis Rey River trail. Your course was level & pleasant as always, but alas I could only get 16ish miles today (instead of the usual 18-21) because of onshore winds slowing me in the home stretch. That and it was 82 out there, plus the steady yet punishing climb at ride's end.
Witnessed a bonafide Fernando Tatis Jr. home run robbery in the first inning, but the Padres could only score once against Robbie Ray, which wasn’t enough. SF 4 SD 1

Speaking of "stuff I unearthed in Mom's Garage" there's also this: a cartoony 12"x12" Crayola-marker freehand-sketch of the world, by me, from (I think) 1990 or 1991, when I was in a middle school art class taught by Dale Carter. I would have been about 14 years old.
That reminds me, I did some more garage-archaeology at my parents' place this week and found my brother's old baseball card book. Among lots of '80s Tigers (his favorite team at that time) were these guys:

Second Conejo Oaks game of the season for us at Ventura College across town (where they will play all their home games this year). They’ve run up the score 12-0 on the SD Bombers, in a game of baby blue on baby blue violence.
Relative recency bias but it’s this one. The triple play to enter the 2024 playoffs might be my favorite 2020s Padres moment, regardless of what happened next. I can’t remember if Molly won’t appreciate this or not but that doesn’t make it false.

"Star Wars Night" at the Big A for Padres/Angels was both extremely silly and occasionally great (the box score tells the tale). But the unquestioned highlight was getting our mostly-OC-based D&D group together. Great to see you both @carlisle25.bsky.social & @trashpandaindustry.bsky.social
Acquired this weekend: a new Padres City Connect hat (in time to see them in Anaheim next weekend). The blue is supposed to be "obsidian" black, and it really is much darker when not under direct light, but right here its colors appear very reminiscent of San Diego's 1998 World Series team.
