Happy 40th Anniversary to ALIENS. I do prefer the original, but I did translate this film into a stage show called Shakespeare Aliens using rhyme and meter and deploying some sick puppets.

This attitude from the chief executive of ARIA is peak "AI is inevitable" and the only answer is just to make sure everyone gets paid to power the slop machine.

"It feels like a very important step change for the Australian government in how it's approaching and considering AI as a whole of economy, whole of government, whole of society issue," she said.

"Given our content is what powers a lot of these tools and makes them amazing, because our content is amazing, we'd very much like to have a seat at the table going forward."

Ms Herd said the sector "very much want to facilitate" AI training in Australia.

“I never asked you about your political views. I have no problem with Republicans, but if you are a MAGA Republican, it would be difficult for us to develop a friendship."

Wow. That comment threw me for a loop, but it made me reflect on the bitter divisions within the country. It is literally a civil war.

Giving evidence to the antisemitism royal commission, the special envoy, Jillian Segal, is advocating for a structure in which an “independent group of people” can examine the ABC’s reporting on Israel and Palestine.

She said:

They can give it a huge tick or they can give it guidance as to the fact that it needs to understand this particular hatred we are focused on better.

Counsel assisting Richard Lancaster asked Segal:

Do you accept that the ABC does seek to take care to ensure that a wide variety of relevant perspectives have been represented in its coverage?

Segal responded:

Well, that is not something that I have turned my mind to as to assessing that. That’s what I’m seeking to have an oversight committee do.

She later said:

In fact, it might give them an extra verification, an extra boost that what they are doing is absolutely fine. It’s just that it may not be fine.

Segal earlier referred to the power of Ofcom in the UK, which enforces the nation’s broadcasting code.

About 10 years ago, CBS was bringing us Marple, a significantly younger version of the character who moved to a small town after inheriting her grandmothers book shop. But prior to that, there was going to be young Miss Marple on the big screen...

Disney previously developed a Miss Marple movie that was to star Jennifer Garner as the title character in her 30s or 40s. Mark Frost was the writer.
