honestly, the zoo themselves have done a better job of including the concerns regarding the impact to the surrounding communities than some media & individuals. This is some of the wording from their latest statement & petition:
5 new benches downtown! (3 of them pictured below). Thank you to everyone who joined us. A beautiful day for our library to reopen and for more seating for everyone. We will not rest until everyone has the right to rest! We will not stop until the dozens of benches removed downtown are reinstalled.
Whether you can join us or not, help us uplift our demands to those in power! We will not rest until EVERYONE can rest.
Join us on Monday to celebrate the reopening of the Downtown Library & place some benches! These will be just a fraction needed to replace all of the benches the city has removed downtown over the years, most recently on KVB. Our bench movement builds upon the work of those before us 🙏🏼💪🏼❤️
NDOT removed the benches because ALLEGEDLY they were in the ROW but they're working to permit our benches in the ROW. Make it make sense.
Happy to report the benches were all rescued in an operation conducted this morning. They are in a secure location, ready for their imminent return to the streets & the people of Nashville.

There is definitely evidence they spoke with the mayor's office and the mayor's office has admitted as much, specifically in September of 2025.
It's brutal out there y'all. If you see anyone outside, please help them get inside. Yesterday we gave a friend this blanket & these protein shakes. He wasn't ready to go in to shelter. When I went to check on him today, he was gone & everything he had was frozen. I hope he made it inside 🥺🙏🏼
Really wish I was making this shit up. They literally put the wrong address for THEIR OWN SHELTER and we had to flag it to them. The levels of incompetency are utterly unbelievable. They gave these to service providers and every single PIT count team to hand out Thursday night.
The reason Nashville is one of the only cities in the entire country that doesn't have license plate readers is because of community members fighting like hell over the past 5ish years to protect our neighbors. No matter how exhausted we are, we will never, ever give up this fight.
Most important bench yet made it’s debut at this morning’s Annual Homeless Memorial. As of the other day, 169 individuals in Nashville have died after a prolonged period of homelessness or while experiencing homelessness this year. More names will likely be added before the year ends 💔

At 10am, right after a man was taken outside of Sip, this bench was still directly across the street. By 4pm, it was gone. Sure, coincidences happen. Maybe this was that. But seems like a BIG coincidence for a bench with MCMW info to be removed hours after 🧊 kidnapped someone across the street.
Don’t we have a Downtown library that needed renovations??? Seems a good use of this funding that was already approved in the DMC’s grant contract would be to… renovate the library the NDP’s subcontractors blew up. Ah but wait, the mayors office is choosing to limit this use out with the MOU.
I have one question for council members. What exactly is this MOU limiting the NDP from acquiring - nuclear weapons? Because from where I’m sitting I can’t think of much worse than AI-driven open source intelligence software that was developed for special forces operations, but that’s just me!
