Marvelous wild desert Jackrabbit, leisurely holding several blades of grass while gradually eating them. Look how one front paw is adorably crossed over the other! Like a domestic cat or dog may do, when lying down & relaxing. Please see ALT for details. #Photography #Wildlife #Desert #Nature

This Black-tailed Jackrabbit is ~ 2 ft. in length. Those wonderful large ears (up to 8 inches tall) help the animal cool off in desert heat. Also, they often turn their ears back & forth to keenly listen, as seen here… These Jackrabbits make an appearance off & on all year. Image from a few days ago, seen from my window.

Purple Gallinule ~ 13 in., also has feathers of deep blue, turquoise, green. Walking very slowly in the shallow water. During dry season.

Florida swamp-lily, bloom ~ 7 in. across, a member of the onion family. Can be seen all year, to varying degrees. This one in the dry season.

Pied-billed Grebe (I think), looking over its shoulder. So cute to watch; almost looks furry rather than feathery! ~ 13.5 in. Seen in dry season.
