Next: Mocking Jay! And I'll have finished the Hunger Games trilogy. The plan is to finish the whole series and watch the movies before Sunrise on the Reaping comes out in November. I'm enjoying it! I think I'd have had more fun as a teenager, but it's worth it to read as an adult, I think.

I absolutely loved Sweetbitter Song, though I found the slave/mistress dynamic to be a little... Off. It was trying to examine the relationship of slaves to women, while maintaining a realistic romance line, and to me it never got there. I enjoyed the Hell outta it, though. Next: Catching Fire.
Ultramarine is a great Weird Little Book for WLB enjoyers like myself. I don't know what I just read. I don't know why, but it was beautifully written and made me think about the ocean. Next: Sweetbitter Song by Rosie Hewlett, which feels Apt after just reading Sappho.
Read the fragments. It'll take you a couple of hours at most, even if you have to stop and look a bunch of stuff up. I cant believe these 2500 year old words still resonate so perfectly. Next: Ultramarine by Mariette Navarro, translated by Eve Hill-Agnus. This cover?! Incredible.
I love how dramatic the fragments are when put like this on the page.
The Lamb is a beautiful book about the slow realization that you are separate from your parents. (And cannibalism) Its beautiful. Next: We Could Be Rats, which I'm scared to read because suicide is not something I stomach well. But I think maybe that's why I need to confront it!
The Caretaker is a really intereseresting take on what extreme OCD might look like, and also a really frustrating read about a girl who manages to fail at every turn in an every escalating series of tasks. It's infuriating! Anyway, next: The Lamb by Lucy Rose.
I don't have any strong feelings about Spoiled Milk. Its one of those books that didn't really feel like much was happening until the last 100 pages. Next: The Caretaker. Hight hopefully for this books since We Used to Live here spooked me so badly.
I didn't really get along with You Exist Too Much. The character growth felt really unearned to me? She identifies she needs help and then constantly refuses to partake in the therapy of the rehab facility she's checked into. Next: Spoiled Milk by Avery Curran This cover is everything!!
It's too bad that there's no good way to post aesthetic photos of the lettering phase bc the W A Y I had to fight this page to get the text to flow juuuust right should earn me at least a pat on the head.

Canon is delightful! It's was a nice break from much heavier books. For a 460 page book it's also SUPER quick. The pages are not all full of words. Next: You Exist Too Much by Zaina Arafat. (I am determined to read all of my library books 😤)
