This last weekend, I finally visited the nearby Poozeum, a museum dedicated to coprolites (fossilized poop). I very much enjoyed the Poozeum and have exhausted my family poop puns for day.

Forecast from the US National Weather Service Flagstaff, AZ: Despite the raging itch from no-see-um welts, this overnight forecaster will try and provide new, exciting and fresh graphical content this morning. Basically, it will remain warm this week (it is summer), with some shower chances arriving out east. Thankfully, not everywhere, as the biting flies need to die. No water for them.

I literally work next to the historic Cinder Lakes Astronaut Training Fields. Today was the first time I've actually walked through them. It was fascinating and more interesting than I expected. Most unexpected: all of the rocks, large and small, that were hauled in.

Of surprise to me, lots of rocks brought in from outside of the immediate area for the training. There's Coconino Sandstone, Moenkopi sandstone, Kaibab Limestone, dacite from the San Francisco Peaks, and more. I was expecting to just be the cinders and basalt of the area.

Visited one of my favorite places in Arizona yesterday - Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. It's the world's largest travertine natural bridge and an amazing oasis.

With so much of my career in AZ, I've got lots of chrysotile 'laying' around. A few samples live in the yard collection area from an old mine in the Salt River Canyon. Even some in a core on my office shelf from mine site (skarn). I've never worried about it since I don't grind it up and breath it.

Pleasantly surprised to see an eagle today - usually they migrate north with only a few hanging around all summer.
