Another page in the very slow "The City Silent." I just haven't felt that creative spark much lately.
It's no longer 'in vogue,' but my blog turns 20 today. When it started in 2006, I was in the middle of making my first long form comic, "Fite!" I've kept a journal of pretty much all the work I've done along the way. I find it a useful tool, quiet though it is. So happy birthday, blog!
It's been FOREVER. But I just haven't had the spark to work on the comic. Tonight, I threw on some Beastie Boys and managed a decent Smatt page. He's my favorite as he's the loudest. Finished page and just inks of Smatt.
Still haven't had much time to draw but I found this going through some old stuff. It's Digby before I toned him way down for "The City Silent." I need to loosen up more.
Made this as a quick little birthday present for a friend. Happy birthday, Byron!
I've been wanting to experiment with portraits for awhile. An idea that came to mind was to keep the background and even figure as abstract as possible while doing a much more detailed version of the face. So I did.
Awhile back, was just sketching an old ref, turning him into an African wild dog. Didn't finish it, but I gave it to a buddy, @nemera.bsky.social to play with as he saw fit. Take a wander over to his account to see the finished work.
Not sure; should I post my portraits stuff here? Regardless, here's a self portrait made from a photo my sister took of me on a recent trip to London.
"The City Silent" page 273. It's been forever. It's also getting harder and harder to draw. The spark just isn't there most of the time. It's been a struggle. And I've been at this one for so damned long. Still, progress is progress.
A couple more sketches, one inked, one just a page from the sketchbook. He's fun to draw and it makes me happy. I know I should be working on the comic...
Spent a little time inking and coloring these two and I admit, they were a lot of fun to do.
A couple pages from the sketchbook as I haven't been able to finish anything lately. Rabbit-Thing and Pointy Weasel (I've got to come up with better names). Sometimes it's worth it just to messy sketch.
Y'all were so kind about my Rabbit Thing. Here's my favorite design of him, which became a t-shirt. He's a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. :D
This is a weird one from nine years ago. The main character never got a name past "pointy weasel." The rabbit was his stoner friend. Was reminded of this by reading some of @orforf.bsky.social 's work. This comic makes no sense. Probably.
Is it fan art if it's your own character? Jus a quick sketch of Smatt being rude.
I still like to draw with pencil and paper. Even though the final art is done digitally, I like to bear down and be messy with the pencil. That part doesn't translate to the iPad. But I am more than happy inking in Procreate for many reasons.
I don't think I've posted any of these before, all old stuff. Was talking with a couple of friends about fursonas, and how I never really had one. T' was my second pen name, Kamen Kyote the first. T' was me trying to bring more abstract work to the fandom. 25 years ago. I don't think I made it. :D

It's been forever since I did a page of this and this doesn't have much to it. But work has been kicking my ass and sucking all the creative force out of me. So at least there's something. Forward motion is always a good thing.
Did a VERY quick and VERY dirty sketch for my friend @nemera.bsky.social . This is his boy, Heath, based on one of his sketches because he's a swell dood.
Work has still been sucking my creative energy away. No time for the comic. So I've done some self portraits. This is one of them.
