We are warming our planet with increasingly severe effects. Vaccines & masks are effective public health measures. Misinformation & disinformation are societal threats. Calling tRump or pierre poiLIEvre supporters stupid is an insult to stupid people.
The first version of Claude Code was built in Sep. 2024 & it was officially/publicly released in Feb. 2025. That was a bit less than 10 years ago. Time travel it is then! 😂
I took it for granted at the time but '82 was a GREAT year for movies (including "Blade Runner")...
Take a minute to read this poignant verse about current events...
This is completely normal for a patient manifesting progressive dementia. It's definitely time to take Grampa's car keys away from him. Happy Easter from Grampa...
Hairy Sean Connery in thigh-high hooker boots wearing essentially a red jock strap - hilarious! It looks like he was either auditioning to join the Village People or was starring in a '70s porn film. 😂
"Sudden Fear" (1952) is a very good film noir thriller with serious suspense and a great surprise ending. It's well written, well cast, well acted & well directed - recommended!
Stream "The Postman Always Rings Twice" - BOTH versions (1946 & 1981). The original is VERY good. The remake is even better due to Jack Nicholson (he is better at portraying a sleazebag than John Garfield) & a superior screenplay. Both Lana Turner (1946) & Jessica Lange (1981) are excellent.
Congrats - I know the feeling because it's a bummer when something like that happens & your camera is in the house. By the time you get it & return, the opportunity is gone. I had my camera with me when Mr/Mrs Bluejay dropped his/her peanut...
Gorgeous indeed. While filming the ST episode "Mirror, Mirror", it's likely that many of cast & set crew had trouble focusing on their jobs due to such sweet distraction...
It's official - I am now President of the Linda Blair fan club! In celebration, I'll be streaming a triple bill: "The Exorcist" (1973), "Rosemary's Baby" (1968) & "The Omen" (1976) - one movie for each digit of 666. 😂 Jon Lovitz as Satan on SNL is also appropriate... www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz-Y...
lol - Feel free to show the "lies" in the multiple references I provided which you ignored. I know that you don't care about child labour in other industries & that you are perfectly fine with child labour for cashews since you JUSTIFIED it. Children belong in school & not harvesting cashews. 😊
The book “Sediments of Time” (2020), quotes paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey: "We are most certainly the only animal that makes conscious choices that are bad for our survival as a species" - pg 345. So far, our technical progress exceeds social co-operation. Physicist Brian Cox agrees...
... This photo (very low light, no flash & rapid movement - she was dancing) was made possible by digital AND full-frame. This photo would not be possible with APS-C or film. Flash was prohibited on this site and would have been impractical under prevailing site conditions even if used...
That graph plots only CO₂ & excludes non-CO₂ GHGs (CO₂e - carbon dioxide equivalents). Total GHG magnitudes are greater than depicted by ∼17.5 Gt/year (as per data in 2010 - 2019 average - UN 2024 Emissions Gap Report, fig. 2.1 & table 2.1). The problem is worse than shown in that graph.
Do you know about those plastic couch & cushion covers that were common in the 1960s/1970s? Couches & armchairs are demanding that those covers be used in the White House. Those coverings are now called "Vance-proofing" - sort of like a reverse external condom for furniture. 😂
You may have seen this political cartoon from the 1930s posted elsewhere. Militaries ate first then, eat first now & will continue to eat first until we have a societal epiphany...
The latest twist on Stephen King's "It" is Pam Bondi and her tales about "the Dow"...
"The Thief" (1952) is a black & white Cold War spy film noir about an American scientist who provides classified material to foreign agents. Despite having no spoken dialogue what-so-ever, it is surprisingly good - recommended.
Yes - that was roughly when Exxon also knew... www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
The #StateOfTheUnion speech will probably also include mention of Arnold Palmer's willy, windmill cancer, how tRump "aced his IQ tests" (can identify large mammals on his cognitive tests) & something about "sharks, batteries and sinking boats"...
You ask: "Who asked for your advice?" Early in the thread, you did & I answered your question...
Ignore the "flood the zone" distractions such as the foolish memes & videos posted by the WH, the "Gulf of America", the Gatsby ballroom, the Greenland hospital ship, etc. Focus on the IMPORTANT issues - ICE, Epstein, tariffs, healthcare, voting rights, freedom of the press, the Constitution, etc.
America was great under Obama - thehill.com/homenews/adm... . Biden never intimidated or harassed red states & Hillary or Kamala certainly would not have done so either. America now has an authoritarian who strives towards dictatorship.
