Alright, only 16,999,875 wishes to go until I reach my moderate goal of 17 million wishlists by August! So close!
I'm also hoping to get this thing out the door soon, finally!

There are a lot of social media attitudes I despise but up there at the top is the "I posted inflammatory statements and people got mad ohoho! guess this is just what HAPPENS when I state my OPINION. you're all stupid for FEELING things about what I say"
weak ass shit

You're today's winner of this meme

Wow, congrats and thanks for the oppo. I'm working on my first game Pod's Itty Bitty Adventure, a retro-themed metroidvania platformer (breaking new ground, I know). Planning to release in a little over a month, fingers crossed.

No Hank! Not Yeerks on the brain! That's the last place you want the Yeerks! Hank!

I've been spending my time fixing up rooms and adding detail which has been a big time sink. Feels like the game is pretty much done - just need to test it a bit more and then get it out the door.

Working on a trailer for the game. This might be the right idea but I think I want to tighten up the music a bit.

Tentative release is the end of August.

Probably the worst code I've ever written but the game now displays locations of all uncollected treasures - once you've completed the game at least once and "continue"

I'm adding some more button prompts to help new players. Almost all my testing has been done with people familiar with platformers and I thought this all might be useful for newbies.

Okay, so for my super-secret third ending of the game, which requires collecting every single treasure, I'm going a bit silly with it...

Added a true inventory display. When the game is paused, you can now see all the things you've collected.

Wanting to make video games all my life and never making into the "in-crowd" and finally making my own thing, watching the industry completely collapse and kill itself over the last decade like

In all playtests, people aren't noticing that you can open the world map at anytime, even with instructions. I've added this wall map which indicates the map button, which should hopefully fix this issue.

Most of my work this week has been on finalizing some back-end things and getting a trailer put together, but I've been updating the decoration on some rooms here so you have something to look at.

Had a little time to work today. Did a few little things. One of them was fix this room - this is now version like five or six of this room. Where Pod is standing was raised in order to better guide the player through

Haven't worked on this in a while. Here are some new rooms to fill out the map (and take care of fast travel post-game). Gonna take this to Full Indie so people can immediately find all the bugs I missed
#gamedev #indiedev

Lots of decoration changes, made some of my levels look nicer. Also got a vid of the animated stars from yesterday.
Oh yeah, and the demo of this game is available on Steam right now! store.steampowered.com/app/4551640/... Wishlist it or something

My open air rooms were looking empty, so I added stars, which animate semi-randomly. I want to tweak the number/color/placement but this really helps.
#gamedev #indiedev

I have to redraw/redesign the world map because I'm dumb. Originally built all the "rooms" as squares in the map, but they're not squares in-game so everything was out of proportion. Oops. These pics are of the new/correct version
#gamedev #indiedev

Alright, I've added teleporters to facilitate post-normal-ending travel. And then I immediately found a bug that crashes the game. Woohoo! Now I gotta figure out what I did wrong.
#gamedev #indiedev

Working on some "special rooms" - described in Alt text. Also redrawing the entire world map and that is taking me for frickin ever
#gamedev #indiedev

Finally got some more work in. Added a special item that can only be collected under very special circumstances (ooooooh secrets!)
I feel so close to completion here.
#gamedev #indiedev

Playtesters were often confused because they began the game without the ability to jump. I've added this tiny, useless jump so players realize that they are intended to jump, but not yet. Hopefully this ends the confusion.
#gamedev #indiedev

Working on a world map - drawing it is a bit of a pain and I feel like a lot of work will need to go into making it more legible, but at least now you're able to see where you are in relation to rooms you've explored.
#gamedev #indiedev

I'm struggling with this opening room. I need the decorations (table, bed, shelves) to visually communicate that you can stand on them but also that they are not fully solid and you can walk through them. This version is a bit noisy but I hope it's better than what I had.
#gamedev #indiedev

Bit of a technical, boring update. Changed the options menu to react to changes immediately, instead of after a "save" function. I did this because players were routinely confused by the old method, and rightly so.
