MR. FREEDOM (1968) A bonkers, sledgehammer satire from William Klein Mr. Freedom has no natural superpowers. He dresses in exaggerated football gear and stands up for "freedom"—to be white, racist, xenophobic, fascist, and anti-communist Is this 1968 America or 2026?
MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (1985) * Watch 3 Been awhile 2 stories enter. One leaves Bartertown/Thunderdome could be its own movie. But it gives way to Peter Pan Lost Boys in the desert The mashup can be seen as a bold pivot or baffling I feel a bit of both Tina towers!
DOCTOR X (1932) The Moon Killer is on the loose! Doctor X tries to find him through science and new experiments Michael Curtiz directs and keeps things moving in this kooky pre-Code But the big star...I'm a sucker for 2-strip Technicolor. The greens and pinks...😘
DAYBREAKERS (2009) A plague transforms almost everyone into vampires From Australia's Spierig Brothers Solid splatters and satire (a society of blood-suckers) But I watched for Sam Neill He plays a vampire CEO. Looks good in a suit with a freak inside Classic Neill RIP
BLADE RUNNER (1982) I've seen this movie (in all its cuts) maybe 10 times Is Deckard a replicant? Or is he not? He narrates the movie. Then he doesn't Ironically, this plays into BR's themes of identity and self-discovery Anyway, I felt like bathing in this 4K disc. And it was a gorgeous bath
JONNY QUEST - TV SERIES "Terror Island" (S01E24, 1965) Creatures are mutating thanks to the evil Dr. Chu's serum! Dr. Quest is kidapped! 😲 Race uses his alpha male rizz 😉 Another episode of pulpy tropes. I can handle pulpy tropes, even if dated at times Lots of action!
JONNY QUEST - TV SERIES "The Queton Missle Mystery" (S01E22, 1965) Cold War Spy-Fi Why is rocket fuel poisoning fish and local Chinese fishermen? The gang discovers a rogue general and his troops Full of pulpy tropes and swampy action
THE NEPTUNE FACTOR (1973) An earthquake changes marine life in "gigantic" ways Ben Gazzara has a southern accent There are some cool underwater sequences balanced with laughable miniatures An exploratory journey with little action A Saturn award nom for Best Sci-Fi movie
MOON (2009) Director Duncan Jones' dad, David Bowie, wrote a thing or two about space "Solid as a rock" Sam Rockwell in almost every scene Creepy Spacey trying to be HAL 9000? 🤷♂️ I had hot and cold vibes with this film But enjoyed the lo-fi design and working class aesthetic

MOONRAKER (1979) * Watch 10? 🤷♂️ Moonrakers were British smugglers of French brandy They would hide the barrels in a pond and use rakes to drag them in at night Drax is the "moonraker". A covert smuggler of poisonous gas This film has always been grand fun for me 🚀
A MESSAGE FROM MARS (1913) Apparently, the first British sci-fi film Essentially, A Christmas Carol. A rich asshole transforms. Instead of ghosts, it's Martians I didn't know aliens from Mars understood the moral compass of humans I'm fascinated by 100+ year-old films
AELITA: QUEEN OF MARS (1924) Hey, just a movie that crosscuts between everyday 20s Russia and Mars Tbh I wanted more Mars. The costumes, designs, and geometrics are pretty epic Later banned (it subverts political ideology) But this film definitely taps into our dreams

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981) * Watch 5? Decided to take the Criterion Channel transfer for a spin Gorgeous grain. A dirty movie with shafts of color I know what happens in this film, but whenever I watch it again...it feels new. Something about it refreshes my imagination
BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980) A Corman riff on Star Wars. A riff on Seven Samurai Sayles wrote the script. Cameron worked on art direction and VFX. So the movie is slightly elevated. Still has a goofy charm Can a spaceship look like a combined uterus and scrotum? Yes, it can
