Doing some clearing in the garden and so the chicks get the leaf litter to scratch around in for bugs. Except our rather tired and oldest chick is very thankful for the new bedding! #BackyardChickens
I quizzed ChatGPT about the Ecce Romani books and the illustrations it used. I can’t recall exactly what they looked like in the book but the AI-generated version did somehow feel familiar.
This little guy, a fledgling Robin that was nesting in my shed, knocked themselves out flying into the kitchen window. Scooped up, caught their breath and after about 30 mins back on the tool shelf was all better and finally did the fledgling thing and flew off.
A broody chick needs taking off the eggs, or she’ll cook them! Our rescue chicks are great but every so often they can get broody and spend all day sitting on eggs. @gingertotty.bsky.social have you got your chicks yet? BTW no chicks were harmed.
The Goldcrest is a kinglet bird and has a cousin, the Firecrest. I love these little birds, great personalities and fiercely independent. In fact when I went self-employed I named my company after it. :)
Buying your little birdie prints started a little chain of helping independent shops. The paper size you did the prints on was, interesting. So I found a local frame maker that could do made-to-measure frames. So buying your prints then helped another artist with their business.
Are you going to get rescue chickens? Is lovely to see them flourish. The first time a rescue gets to have a proper dust bath is lovely. We got these guys a while ago, took 2-3 months to get all the feathers back.
I really liked the extra art on the envelope when I bought some of your prints. Joyful frog, singing birdie, happeee-bee and sunshine! :)
Current amount of credit, which is probably too high. Typically build up this amount of credit by about Oct/Nov time. Good news is that they agreed to significantly reduce my direct debit.
As a family we use an app for making a list for the supermarket shop, usually means I don’t forget to buy anything. Something is telling me that not everyone is happy with the avocados I buy!
Spring time jobs. Paint the fence, mow the lawn, make a bird bath - makes the garden look so much better! #Spring #Lincolnshire #Garden
Back to ‘school’, just for a day! With my son for a tour and info day. #Physics #University
Can’t a guy eat his Marmite on toast in peace! These guys have only just had their breakfast and now they want mine! #DogsOfBluesky #RhodesianRidgeback #Lagotto
I didn’t even realise that I had a regular “rest day”, but looks like Thursday’s are it. #AppleFitness #InjuryRecovery
Visiting MiL for Mother’s Day, carpark full and as there is double-yellow line on the access road I didn’t actually park on the street; also no restrictions posted wrt parking on the grass. I got a parking fine for being “parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours”. Can I challenge this?
Having your own hens is great as we get fresh eggs every day. Every so often one of the hens lays a whopper. I weighed this egg before cracking it open, 95g and a double yolker too. So today’s breakfast courtesy of Enya, our 5-yo Bluebelle. Thanks chick! 🐓
wrt dogs, many (most??) vet practices will say that costly annual vaccinations for leptospirosis and every 3 yrs for distemper and parvovirus is essential. Giving the "primary course" is essential but annual titre testing and only boosting when immunity drops is way cheaper and better for the dog.
A famous example of desire paths would be The Oval at Ohio State University. #PeoplePower
Catching flu and having a fever; a story told using Apple Health’s vitals statistics.
Dog toys found scattered around the garden needed a wash; been having out to dry overnight. Rained early this morning so they are just getting wet, looks more like a dog toy torture scene.
#Autumn #Leaves Leaves on the lawn cleared in an hour. The beech trees that border my garden will keep shedding leaves for another few weeks yet! #WeeklyToil
