The Athabasca Glacier in Jasper. My wife and I Honeymooned here in 1992. Went back for our 30 year anniversary and they had put markers showing how far the glacier has receded over the years… devastating ☹️
Nice afternoon at Brundage Reservoir today. It’s one of my go to places. #IdahoEscape
The crews on the Big Grass Fire are working hard on the South East corner. Looks like theyre literally trying to “box it in” with a large burn out operation. However, it looks like the fire isn’t cooperating and might be out flanking them to the North. #IdahoFire
I thought this group might be interested in some of the politics behind the scenes faced by wildland firefighters. The texts are from an individual working on the Tartar Fire outside of Weiser, ID. This is nothing new and causes some serious friction when public lands meet private lands. #IdahoFire
Huckleberry blues… I’m not sure how other areas are faring, but in the hills surrounding New Meadows, ID finding huckleberries isn’t going well. I spent several hours in the woods (my usual spots) and found 4. Total 😢 #IdahoEscape
It’s Sunday morning and I feel giddy. Sharing some of nature’s treasures from a recent trip trip into the Lost River Range. #IdahoEscape
Found my first morel of ‘26 followed by a successful day in the woods. Adams County around 4800’. #Idahoescape
April 13th and the birds are sleeping in this morning. #Idahoescape
I definitely remember the drive, spent a couple nights camped there enjoying a resident grebe and a couple of bald eagles pestering it. While I did see a few day trippers, nobody else spent the night while I was there (Fall ‘24)
Just out for a short walk along the upper reaches of the Weiser River Trail today. #Idahoescape
I remember that spot from last Spring. Saw elk, moose, deer, pronghorns and very few humans.
Sometimes you have to narrow your view to see nature’s intricacies. Hoar frost. #IdahoEscape
This morning’s walk. A few inches of fresh snow, a crisp 23 degrees and a dog with snowballs between his toes. #IdahoEscape
Big fancy thanksgiving meals are highly overrated, unless company is expected. We had a traditional dinner prepared via TraderJoes… and it was pretty good.
Not even close to being the best dog or even a good dog… but he’s our dog and we shower him with love nonetheless 🙂
Does anyone else randomly click on a stock chart list, see a bunch of green and immediately think that the 🍊💩 just had a stroke???
A few photos from our drive between Stanley and Ketchum today. Fall colors and fresh mountain snow. #IdahoEscape
