The audacity of calling it "our" language when it couldn't even spell its own empire correctly half the time. English a linguistic garage sale. It stole half its vocabulary from French, mugged Latin in an alley, borrowed from Arabic, lifted from West African languages, picked indigenous pockets, and now walks around acting like it invented grammar and pretending it's the standard. FOH.

This is the same language that can't decide whether "read" is present or past without context clues. A language that pluralized 'goose" into "geese" but left "moose" alone out of pure fucking chaos. A language that looked at "cough, "bough", and "rough" and said, "Yeah,fuck it, that's fine.″ This raggedy language can't even spell "through" without six unnecessary letters, but you're worried about somebody "destroying" it? And now you think I'm the problem? English was raggedy before I got here.

My ancestors didn't wake up one day and say, "You know what would be fun? Abandoning our cosmologies, our names, our proverbs, our tonal systems, our oral histories, and picking up irregular verbs and silent letters."

You don't own English. Empire spread it. Survival sharpened it. And if anything, Black people have done more to make English expressive, rhythmic, and globally influential than the crown ever did.
