Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, or Alice In Chains.
Mine is okay but dated. No hint of the fact that I’ve done primarily professional and scientific ethics for most of the past decade. Grok’s was based almost entirely on my PhD thesis. I did find the hallucinations funny and miss my time at the Red Cross. 😆
I was reminded of Goats recently when I saw a car with this bumper sticker. Ah, the old webcomic days…
My initial reaction was this might be okay. Using the local model could preserve privacy by keeping all queries on device. Plus eliminating network access could reduce environmental concerns of data centers, etc. But nope: the model isn’t actually used for that at all! Ugh.
Obviously not the most glaring issue with this post, but what the hell is that angel-like thing above his head even supposed to be? Are those rifles it's holding up? Flag posts? Is it a demigorgon? 🤪
Man, my timeline is wild sometimes. Two consecutive posts: Either we’re escalating to disaster in Iran or we’re pulling out of Iran to disaster. They don’t call it “doomscrolling” for nothing.
It was 85° and my kids were wearing shorts. It’s now 35° and…snowing. Ah, Virginia…
This is what Republicans in VA are resorting to. Comparing the redistricting (passed in direct response to red state redistricting tactics) to Jim Crow. Ugh.
Deadpan and self-deprecating, sometimes found (not at conferences) at a piano. Yeah, I’m going with Rowlf.
How about a LaTeX formula? $\lim_{n \rightarrow \infty} \frac{1}{n}$ 😆

Scenes from lovely Lisbon, Belém, and Sintra. In the last picture, you can see the center of Sintra in the far background. Yes, we hiked all the way up. And carrying a baby to boot!
These numbers! Wow, this is such a complete failure and abdication of responsibility by OpenAI.
Obscure nerd gripe: For every C function, GNU style puts a space between the function name and the open parenthesis. clang-format does this correctly...unless the function is named "export". It removes the space that was there! WHY?!? (diff output: + is original, - is clang-format)
This quote sums it up for me. I’ve been teaching for almost 20 years, attending and leading workshops on evidence-based active learning, researching and honing effective practices. And LLMs completely undermine the desirable difficulties I’ve devoted my career to constructing.
This is one of the clearest and saddest explanations of the evolution of American politics I've observed over the past 30-40 years. There's so much in it, but this highlighted passage is perhaps my favorite. The modern GOP is based on the Confederacy, not the Declaration and Constitution.
I'm sorry, but lol. As with so many "anti-woke" moderates, McArdle conveniently forgets that the world existed before 2016. Attacks on the humanities, budget cuts, neo-creationism ("evolution is just a theory"), etc., go back decades. The silence of moderates during that time was deafening.
This guy can just go rot. It's not counterintuitive. We know and we've known for years. Democrats are expected to be the grown-ups in the room. It's a BS cop-out. Don't want to waste time criticizing Trump? Fine. So go after his Republican enablers. Hound every single one of them. Pathetic.
It really is truly here and available. No longer a preliminary edition…an actual published book. It’s only been in progress since SIGCSE 2018! I can’t even begin to describe how happy it makes me to hold this book!
