David Pocock tells us why ordinary Australians can't get a fair go, it's the non-transparent power & access to MP's given to paid Lobbyists. Many have all areas access to Parliament House but we aren't allowed to know who they are & which MP has granted access.

An article in the Saturday Paper by David Pocock MP who would like to see Lobbying in Canberra made transparent and regulated. Currently the legislation they operate under is weak & ineffective and the public don't know who they are & how much access they have or which MP has given them 24 hr all areas access to Parliament House

“It’s a happy day for journalists in the ABC and around Australia who now know media bosses will have to think twice before allowing their will to be influenced by a third party with vested interests.

“I’m extremely glad this case exposed the direct line lobbyists had with management, and hopefully this verdict draws a line in the sand as far as managerial overreach is concerned,” another staffer told Crikey. “While it might be too much to hope for accountability when it comes to certain executives involved, it still feels like reporters across the country are breathing a sigh of relief that they won’t get caught in the crosshairs simply because The Australian has found them objectionable.”

Lattouf was removed following a lobbying campaign from a pro-Israel group that went directly to the then chair of the ABC, Ita Buttrose, and former managing director David Anderson. The identities of those lobbyists are subject to a suppression order for the next 10 years — an order granted by Justice Darryl Rangiah as part of proceedings in this case.

The ABC has spent in excess of $1.1 million of taxpayer funds defending the case, a figure which it fought tooth and nail to avoid disclosing until a Senate estimates hearing in February this year.

Ex Labor Senator Doug Cameron representing Labor Against War org condemns the illegal, aggression that Trump is using against Iran. Cameron says is is inconceivable that the Govt would have supported the strikes had it not locked itself into a security pact that subjugated Aust foreign policy to US interests. He also says the 'left' faction of Labor has been mute on the issue.
