This really makes me think of MAGA in a new light. Everyone knows the POTUS is a narcissist, and maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if his conspiracy-theory-addicted followers are like him.

One of the classic questions in the study of conspiracy theories, accusing secret groups of colluding to achieve nefarious goals [1], is which individual differences predispose people to believe in them. While the Big Five traits show weak associations with conspiracy beliefs [2], researchers find relatively consistent effects for the way people perceive themselves [3,4]. In three studies, all conducted with US samples, Cichocka and colleagues [5] demonstrated that endorsement of conspiracy theories was related to narcissism—a belief in one's superiority and a sense of entitlement to special treatment, characterised by sensitivity to threats [6**, 7, 8].
Importantly, the effects were unique to narcissism and did not emerge for secure, non-narcissistic self-esteem—a positive self-evaluation characterised by feelings of adequacy and satisfaction with oneself, which can serve as a buffer against psychological threats [7].

The effect of narcissism on conspiracy beliefs has been replicated in various contexts by multiple labs [9, 10, 11, 12**, 13, 14]. For example, Siem and colleagues [15] directly replicated Study 3 of Cichocka and colleagues [5] in a German sample.
Their second study, also conducted in Germany, demonstrated a similar pattern of results with respect to belief in conspiracy theories about COVID-19. Sternisko and colleagues [16] confirmed this relationship across 56 countries.
Overall, meta-analytic effects ranging from
r = .22 [3] to r = .26 |4] suggest that narcissism is
one of the best psychological predictors of conspiracy beliefs. In this article, we rely on recent developments in research on narcissism and discuss four psychological mechanisms that might explain why narcissism increases the psychological appeal of conspiracy theories.

To be clear, we know radiation causes cancer, but people working at power plants seem to be under the impression their exposure is so low as to be completely harmless. 30 miles is a close distance for residential living in a country so large, but it seems someone has lied to nuclear plant workers.

Impact
This study provides the first national assessment of sex- and age-specific mortality from breast, colon, and lung cancers in relation to proximity to U.S. nuclear power plants, revealing consistent patterns not previously demonstrated. These findings fill a major gap in environmental epidemiology and underscore the need for cohort studies, refined exposure assessments, and pathway-specific analyses to strengthen causal interpretation. As nuclear power gains momentum in national energy planning, establishing clearer evidence on potential health impacts is increasingly essential for guiding research priorities and public health preparedness.

This one is also worth consideration, especially for those living within 30 miles of a nuclear power plant.

Results
Proximity to nuclear power plants was associated with elevated mortality from breast, colon, and lung cancers. From 2000 to 2020, an estimated 39,767 female deaths (95% Cl: 9312-69,381), representing 2.01% (95% Cl: 0.47-
3.50%), and 38,124 male deaths (95% Cl: 16,106-59,600), representing 2.33% (95% Cl: 0.98-3.64%), were attributable to this proximity. Lung cancer accounted for the largest burden in both sexes, followed by breast and colon cancer in females and colon cancer in males.
Mortality risks declined with increasing distance, becoming negligible beyond 50 km [~30 miles].

Significance
This national-scale analysis provides new evidence that proximity to nuclear power plants is associated with increased mortality from major cancers in the U.S.

Osbourne and Butler reunited in another band, Polka Tulk Blues, which included guitarist Tony lommi and drummer Bill Ward, whose band Mythology had recently broken up. They renamed the band Earth, but after being accidentally booked for a show instead of a different band with the same name, they decided to change the band's name again, settling on the name Black Sabbath in August 1969.

The bit about the security guard, Amin Abdullah, made me cry. How much longer will we rely upon the exceptional heroism and selflessness of random individuals to stop this societal madness around guns?

When officers first arrived on scene, they discovered the three victims outside of the center, all adult men. One of the deceased was a security guard later identified as Amin Abdullah whom authorities have said took actions during the incident that likely saved the lives of numerous others including the many children in the center at the time of the shooting. "I think it's fair to say his actions were heroic and undoubtedly saved lives today," Wahl said.

It’s the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). None of the questions should be considered hard by a cognitively normal adult.

Structure of the MoCA Test

The MoCA test comprises a series of tasks that evaluate different cognitive functions:

• Visuospatial/Executive: Includes clock drawing and trail-making tasks.
• Naming: Identification of animals like a lion, rhinoceros, and camel.
• Memory: Immediate and delayed recall of a list of words.
• Attention: Tasks such as digit span, vigilance, and serial subtraction.
• Language: Sentence repetition and verbal fluency.
• Abstraction: Similarities between paired items.
• Orientation: Awareness of date, place, and time.

Scores range from 0 to 30, with 26 and above generally considered normal. Scores below this may indicate cognitive impairment.
