Nature persists. End of August, the tomato plant blooms, aiming to produce just a few more tomatoes. Unlikely odds but Nature persists. Respect.
Cherry tomato time on the balcony garden. The sakura is producing well but the real success is with the very tall, very productive esterina variety. Delicious!
No Jets TO! The island airport expansion is not needed or wanted. It would mean increased noise and air pollution, reduced access and use of the inner harbour, reduced housing options. Hamilton airport is being expanded; Pearson has capacity. High speed rail is coming. TO says NO!

Balcony garden. Plants that overwintered: chives, sage, thyme (but not the lemon thyme), chrysanthemums. Plants that came up from last year’s seeds: cornflowers, chamomile, dill and soon marigolds and basil. Early bedding plants: spearmint, chocolate mint, parsley, cat grass, basil. Tomatoes shortly
Flowering cherry blossoms in Trinity Bellwoods Park! 10 degrees Celsius on a Thursday afternoon but many people out admiring the blossoms. Farmers’ market opens next Tuesday.
Toronto’s High Park is a haven for nature lovers. Grenadier pond is emerging from the ice. Squirrels and chipmunks are scurrying about. Soon enough the cherry trees will blossom but not quite yet.
We’ll have to wait a few weeks for spring here in Toronto so here’s a lovely daffodil. We’ll start with snowdrops though so here’s a pic from the past.

November 1st. Balcony garden on the wane but still determined. Some mums, marigolds, hardy basil, an optimistic tomato plant. Selkie still has his cat grass. Winter is coming.

So many wonderful places to travel in the Caribbean! I loved the Dominican Republic, Antigua, Curaçao, Cuba … My favourite island so far is Guadeloupe. Pointe-à-Pitre was bustling and felt very safe. They have amazing graffiti artwork everywhere.
Please celebrate the sole fruit of my Cherokee Purple tomato plant. A valiant effort. Next time I will stick to cherry tomatoes. #balconygarden
It would be really great if we could stop policing what women wear. Unless we ask your opinion, it’s really not your business. Go touch grass, smell the roses and park your judgement elsewhere.
