It's a different kind of heartache, to look back at ones past self. To find evidence of their existence, that person who became a piece of the current you. To look back and see how much you've healed and grown. To love them. To empathize with them. And to realize maybe time has not been wasted.
There is nothing about this that is not vile. What "modern sensibilities"? The christofascist ones pushing us back to the days of the Hays Code? That are fuelling the genocide of the trans community? That are calling for the silence and eventual extermination of the queer community as a whole?
I work front desk at a wellness clinic in a mostly well off, this is extra demographic But every so often a client comes in And it's that feeling of oh, this was VITALLY important for them, and it made a HUGE difference Those clients almost always are terminal And they're some of my favs
