4yo wanted to do dot painting with me but he wanted to use all the bright colors and said I could only use black and I only had two minutes to do it. 4yo's should be in charge of all art challenges because that was actually really fun. 😄

Our basil plant has not been growing well outside this year but I am so desperate for greens after avoiding salad for a week now that I plucked the good parts and apologized to the plant and made a caprese salad. Hopefully this tiny amount of leaves satisfies my omnivore needs for now. 😆

Just got one of those extremely length and badly written AI spam emails targeted at authors, and while it was one of the least believable in literal ages, it did give me a good chuckle at the end. Ah, so THAT'S the one detail that stood out to you the most? Just that little thing, eh? 😂

P.S. The detail that stood out to me most is that you are a professional science educator who has worked in zoos and museums since age 11, with science degrees from the University of Michigan and Stony Brook University, and that you have had a lifetime of adventures including separating fighting rhinos, falling down a cliff in search of fossils, creating million-volt lightning bolts, and handling feisty alligators. I am genuinely curious: how has your background as a science educator and your hands-on adventures influenced the way you crafted the hard science and the sense of adventure in The Countdown Conspiracy?

4yo wanted to do some drawing this afternoon with me. I miss my cat Darwin, who passed away last week. Trying to write out my feelings. The pain continues to be hard to describe. This isn't my first pet loss and it really never gets easier. Anyway. Miss you, buddy. 💔❤️

We had to say goodbye to the sweetest cat ever on Monday. Our home and hearts feel so empty. In memory of Darwin. The best cat. Our dearest little companion. We miss you terribly. I am glad you are no longer in pain. I am glad you found the peace your heart wished for. Thank you for being family.
