Burnham is looking to be a complete fix up Starmer has been a disaster & Burnham's been shoulder tapped to try & *rebrand* UK Labour without real changes - inner circle Starmerites maintaining cabinet roles would be as clear a sign as any especially those among the worst like Mahmood & Streeting
lmaoooooo i do not have words for how far the boot is down the throats of NZ media at this point
hello RNZ do you think there is some important framing that might be useful to partake in regarding this meeting, the evidence or the political direction of the people hosting it??
media know that they don’t ACTUALLY have to do this theyre doing it because theyre in the bag, theres no other reasonable explanation for it in the current environment
again and again mainstream media (who everyone still likes to scream are 'leftwing') get their kicks by normalising some of the most publicly bigoted people in the country, so long as it serves a political end they seem to support "making headlines" is it?
you should see what the US and its allies (including us) get up to around China but you wouldn't see the extent of it in NZ media, because they simply choose not to report... why is that?
i wish nz media would be a bit more honest than using terms like “outspoken” about men who regularly use unhinged and abusive language about public figures media should be part of the solution for protecting people, but they regularly choose the side of the worst people in NZ by acting this way
you've got to be kidding new US ambassador to NZ, Jared Novelly, has literally been involved in money laundering to fund Republican political campaigns in an attempt to deceive voters now he's here trying to interfere directly in NZ foreign policy how have media missed this?
utter and pathetic subservience there are numerous MPs within NZ's government who would give EVERYTHING to the USA we're beyond just embarrassing, this has reached the level that we should worry sovereignty and foreign interference
do NZ journos think there might be useful context & subtext that is relevant to NZers when they decide to treat far right US fascists in the same way that they treat local politicians? this is a wall of verbatim PR with a kindly framed headline essentially being gamed by the incoming US ambassador
i think we all remember how absurd this was, but seeing THIS reporting i think serious questions need to be asked about exactly WHO Luxon is ACTUALLY taking advice from Just being naive or incompetent does not account for the difference in sentiment between the advice and the statements made
RNZ framing it up the same way but including an insane juxtaposition - the rich and powerful get to fine dine, NZ's kids get rotten slop and third degree burns and David Seymour gets to "bite back" fuck everyone involved in the NZ establishment's war on children, the absolute ghouls
sorry but why the fuck does the Deputy PM get to set framing for an extensive *Auditor-General investigation* that found his school lunch changes were absolutely fucked?? beyond the pale that he gets to essentially dictate the headline against evidenced and credible findings media are fucking DONE
ah i see that nz media are still linking to Magic Weapons as if it's a serious text and as if the piece, or it's author, are anything but cranked...
this is how bad the far right (Destiny) in this country are getting, and if we don't consider this a pipeline to the rest of the rightwing then we're failing at basic analysis this of course applies most strongly to media and institutions who are in a position to actually do something
media in NZ continuing to hide behind “just reporting what was said” is not only pathetic & obsequious to power & politicians but has been actively used as a way to push narratives for over a decade now, to the extent that it can only be considered an intentional editorial choice why report this?
actually evil that the ACT Party - in their own materials - celebrates attacks on Māori, but this never gets carried or effectively challenged by ANY msm - who prefer publishing crafted PR here are the 'top' achievements from their website campaign materials about 'equal rights' and 'health'
I just don't think the predictable announcement for a minor party's deputy leader is equivalent, let alone more newsworthy, than announcements by the highest polling political party 🤷♀️ our media outlets all do though. why is that?
absurd and awful when western media do this kind of "analysis" the children killed in Minab, among many, many others may have a different view this *continues* to occur in a western consciousness that dehumanises and devalues
shouldn't be allowed to invoke Cuba for the damage your own government has done without the reporter *at least* mentioning the illegal and genocidal sanctions against the Cuban people
Media owner Sinead Boucher told by a senior MP regarding survival of the industry: ‘If you were nicer to us, maybe we would care if you lived or died’ alongside consistent showboating by Seymour & Peters celebrating media job losses & threatening reporters yet Stuff et al become MORE subservient
one of the many fantastic points the article makes re: membership, supporter beliefs/stances and the way that political power and party politics *actually* operate
is there any legitimate reason not to name Opportunity in the headline here except to suppress name recognition??? this feels absurdly biased against a minor party, especially one that has relatively well-covered electoral history first time i've seen something like this i can think of
BREAKING RNZ reporter wildly misreports $$ value as "min" (is that for MINUTES!?") instead of "m" while attempting to cover tax policy Hours later & it still hasn't been fixed RNZ, as an entire organisation, CLEARLY isn't fit to report on politics let alone *tax policy* given this HORRIFIC error
just look at this shit absolutely bought and paid for to just have day after day of these lines reported while claiming objectivity because they're "jUsT rEpOrTiNg WhAt wAs sAiD"
feels like really nasty posturing by Alfred Ngaro. There is no political space where promoting israel like this, in an evangelical setting should be considered appropriate Ngaro & Ikilei seem to have been selected by Peters for the Zionist lobby if we had functioning media this would be a story
