July Reads! 9 books. 2 were re-reads as I gave them a second chance after not initially vibing with them, and I'm glad I did. Continued reading the Windy City Series, and found my favorite book in the series (Play Along). Plus, I have a contender for my read of the year.
And now im in the next day line to get a wristband to ensure I get in to see The Rings of Power panel tomorrow in Hall H.
Today is International Rock Day! As a geology major along time ago, I have been distracted by rocks my whole life and still find them fascinating.
Reverse by Kate Stewart Book 2 Bittersweet Symphony Duet An ♾️ star read for me! Kate Stewart writes so beautifully yet puts me through emotional hell every damn book! I think I may be alone in this, but I liked this book more than Drive. I enjoyed Drive, but this book?! Oh boy, it got me good!
Drive by Kate Stewart Book 1 Bittersweet Symphony Duet This book is a re-read. Wasn't my fav. But every time I see someone talk about this book, they love it. So I gave it another chance. I'm glad I did because it is MUCH better than I remember. Which leads me into book 2.......
Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig Book 2 of The Shepherd King I loved this book so much. It kept me engaged the entire time. I love the magic system in this book. Normally, I don't love when an alternating between 2 different storylines chapter to chapter, but it didn't bother me here.
This is what I'm talking about! Like can we save some happenings for some other days?!
The First Time I Saw Him by Laura Dave The sequel to The Last Thing He Told Me This book could have been an email. There is build up in the beginning of the book, and then nothing happens. Disappointing cause I enjoyed the first book.
One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune Another very cute summer read. I liked it more than Every Summer After. Charlie 😍😍😍
One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig Admittedly, this took me a very long time to finish, and I really struggled to get through the first 60% of this book. But WOW, the last 150 pages of this book were freaking AMAZING! Glad I have book 2, so I can jump right in.
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune This was on my TBR, but I sped up my reading of this because I wanted to read it before I watched the show. I'm glad I did. What a cute summer read of a second chance love story. I enjoyed the flashbacks in this story.
Mad Honey by Jodi Piccoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan This was a beautifully written tragic story about the life of a trans girl leading up to and after her death. Written from 2 pov - one starting at the end of the story going backward and the other at the beginning of the story going forward.
Severed Heart by Kate Stewart Book 2 in The Ravenhood Legacy series This book ripped my heart out The love that Tyler & Delphine shared was transcendent. Tyler loved Delphine for everything she was, despite everything she was. I don't know how he moves on. Delphine, oh my, what an amazing woman.
Look what was announced today by The Gulls & their owners. A new sports complex in Escondido (San Diego) with multiple ice rinks. Official blurb on The Gulls social media accounts is in the ALT Text.
