I saw the same issue with installing the Intel GPU driver from Intel's website, but Windows then replacing it with an older driver. I'm not seeing the issue anymore, and I think I solved it by updating the driver a second time using the "Update Driver" option in Device Manager.

These two routers replace two of three WNDR4300 (v1) routers. For the remaining WNDR4300, it's connected (as a WDS client) at 450 Mbps (802.11n MCS 23). The new routers are connected at ~1000 Mbps (802.11ac VHT-MCS 5-6).
Bonus: Figured out what "PR" in the firmware update notes refers to.
