White supremacist patriarchy runs on white apathy. It always has. Not active hatred. Not burning crosses. Indifference and comfort. People who choose to look away. Usually because acknowledging harm would mean admitting the way they benefit from someone else’s suffering.
White denial is hierarchical maintenance. It’s built on an unspoken agreement to misrepresent history so the present feels deserved. It’s the insistence that outcomes are natural. That conquest is moral. And that the subjugated earned their oppression.
Capitalism focuses on the protection of capital at the expense of human life. Capitalism is corporatized colonialism. A system of extraction and exploitation that is done with pen and paper rather than guns and bombs.
America didn’t abandon colonialism.
It perfected it.

Every time someone denies that capitalism requires slavery, they are subconsciously revealing their white supremacist world view. They are sanctifying exploitation. Claiming that hierarchy is honorable as long as they are at the top.
What we’re seeing now are countermeasures from a system believes it is under threat. Not because it actually is… but because white supremacist patriarchy feels threatened whenever it’s forced to share space.
A Black man became president.
Women stopped needing permission.
Queer and trans people refused to stay hidden.
History cleared its throat.
And the system lost its mind.
So it’s doing what systems like this always do.
It’s attacking.
That is all that white supremacy knows.
This administration isn’t reacting to crime or disorder. It’s reacting to visibility. Autonomy. The erosion of patriarchy.
And the system perpetuates itself by convincing white people that it will keep them safe… that is… as long as they remain silent. As long as they hold the contract sacred… and misrepresent the past. As long as they continue to pretend that colonialism is something found in a history book. As long as they pretend that they’re the victim.
As long as they continue to turn a blind eye… for an eye… for an eye… for an eye.
And that’s the thing about the American dream. You have to keep your eyes closed to believe it. You have to pretend to be asleep.
Because anyone who opens their eyes knows that it was always the American nightmare.
